EDgun How to identify slug vs pellet magazines for Leshiy 2

Hello Friends! My Thanksgiving haul just arrived from Edgun shop. I bought a .177 barrel kit with 2 mags. I requested they provide 1 pellet and 1 slug mag and mark which is which. I received 2 mags but there’s no indication as to which is which. Is there any simple way to determine this? I already dropped ZAN slugs in to see if they were caught vs slide through on both but they returned similar results. See attached pic. Thank you in advance!!

Did you measure width of both mags & diameter of pellet/slug "holes" in mags? If one mag is wider (thicker) I'd think that one's for slugs.

I thought it was the other way around, the slug mags were the narrower ones. My recollection is the problem people were having is that slugs were sliding through the pellet mags -- that's why we needed narrower mags (i.e. slightly smaller calibre) for slugs.

The deeper rationale is pellets are easily extruded through the barrel that's why they tend to be a bit over-diameter. Slugs are more solid and less easily extruded, so that's why their diameters are smaller, to cause less friction when extruded through the barrel.

You're probably more correct than me. I'm not very "slug experienced"

The gun comes with two mags already and are in a sealed box ready to ship. Unless the seal was broken, you probably recieved the standard mags as they probably didn't swap one. May have to order the slug mags separately. Know it's not what you wanted to hear. Sorry.
@dv8eod Thank you for your feedback and condolences 😊 but I did not purchase a new Leshiy, it was a barrel kit to change the caliber. Currently it is a .30 but I wanted to drop it to a .177 with a 470cc tank so I can walk off trail while on a hike and be able to get a substantial number of shots from the onboard air while also remaining as quiet as possible so as not to disturb other trying to enjoy nature.

My Slug mags are marked
Thank you, just received confirmation from Matias that this seems to be an absolute rule with Leshiy 2 slug mags.

And to those saying to measure the holes, this of course is excellent advice but I was having quite a bit of difficulty in getting such a small difference accurately measured. I apologize as I should’ve included that in my initial description.

@BlackTitanium Actually if you’re a L2 .177 slug guy could you please share your
  • reg pressure
  • jet selection
  • transfer port size
for the the Zans, also if you happen to have settings you like for shooting lighter jsb wadcutters if you have experience with that. And I’m assuming you have the dog collar & bone installed?

Thank you for your time!
  • EDgun Leshiy 2 350mm .177 (4.5mm) Caliber
  • 4.5mm Puck - Transfer Port
  • Huma-Air Raptor Tuning Regulator
  • EDgun Behemoth QD Silencer Tri-Lug Kit Reflex
I tried than Zan's, found them to be too dirty and a rougher finish, compared to JSB, NSA and H&N.

The NSA's are packaged cleaner, and are more polished.
I do not like that I have to force the slugs into the Slug Magazine, or that the slugs sit proud out of the breech end of the Standard Magazine.
  • Nielsen Specialty Ammo .178 HP Slugs 20.5 gr
  • Regulator: 130 bar
  • Jets: 1.2mm x 2
  • Average Velocity: 682 FPS
  • Average FPE: 21.2 Ft lbs
I mostly use the JSB/Edgun KnockOut Slugs because these Slugs, are Speed Loader friendly, fit perfectly into the Slug Magazine.
  • JSB KnockOut Slugs 13.43 gr
  • Regulator: 130 bar
  • Jets: 1.2mm x 2
  • Average Velocity: 815 FPS
  • Average FPE: 19.9 Ft lbs
Overall, I much prefer to use heavy hitter 20 gr. slugs.
Still looking for HP Slugs, in the 20 gr. range, that would fit the magazine correctly.

Thank you! I got my L2 as a .30 250mm but decided I wanted to be able to walk into the woods and plink for a while so I got a .177 barrel kit, 470cc bottle, raptor reg, and jet kit. Considering turning it all the way down to be able to shot 7/8gr wadcutters and just maximize the shot count with doing a 2.0 & 1.2 jet, maybe even 2x 2.0.

Really appreciate your input. I guess I’m ordering some NSA’s : )

(The sources had one or two to sell, and now they are out of stock.)

I am looking for additional magazines for three Leshiy 2s: .30, .22. and .177. Looking for both pellet and slug magazines. I have been googling around and managed to find a purchase a few pellet mags in all three calibers. If you have some to sell or know of a reliable source that is less than obvious, please post that here. Thanks so very much-
