Well in my personal opinion they are no better moderator better than a DonnyFL but as I always do I like to try different things to try and make just a little more quiet. I have done a list of things and yes some better then others but today I kinda found the best of all the past tryed. I took a foam pipe cover looks like a noodle your kids swim with but smaller I got mine from Lowe's or you can get it at Home Depot. It made a very big difference on my ronin 30cal hear is a photo of what I did. I left in the screen and put the foam over it. But I added some lemon pledge inside and on the foam so it will slid in it will dry and you won't even know it's there. Hell you might get a lemon smell
I have not shot groups but just tested sound it won't effect shooting accuracy I have tested with a lot of different things in the past none really made a difference in accuracy just sound. I use lemon pledge on all my airguns it's just wax is all it is does not leave a greasy or stickiness to the touch.
I’m curious to what type of sound it made, I have used different types of material like memory foam, plumbers felt, scotch brite. They all had different tones it made at different speeds. I shoot mostly.25 at higher fps. Let me know.
Pack an LDC with CLOSED CELL FOAM it reduces volume internally. Closed cell foam will not breath and allow air to enter the foams structure. While the foams surface may absorb some sound wave energy, the loosing of volume IMO is going in the wrong direction.
Seems like we'd want more space inside the tube for the air the scurry away, not less.
What could be happening is that the pitch of the shot sound has changed so that it appears to be less of a shot to your ear, but more like a thud -- that can be interpreted as non-gun and non-threatening -- so that is does not warrant a call to the police by your friendly anti-gun neighbors or other interested parties....
I was thinking about doing this exact thing on the barrel extension that I added to my Megalodon. The slug would pass through the foam and then the emperor. This could be interesting! Thanks for validating my journey!
