How to make turret tape?

I use a FREE software called paint.net. What you want to do is:

- First, check what resolution your printer has. Mine is 600 dpi (dots per inch) and go to http://www.endmemo.com/sconvert/dpipixel_cm.php
- Enter your DPI and convert to Pixels/CM
- Write the pixels/cm down
- Open Paint.net
- Go to File - New OR click Ctrl+N
- Under resolution enter the number your wrote down
- Under Print Size enter your width and height. I prefer millimeters so I chose cm.
- Hit OK and start drawing.

Tip: On the bottom right you have a ruler. It will help you to put lines, numbers and what not, exactly where you want them to be...

After you are done designing your tape, here is what you need to do:

- Go to File - Save As and chose PNG
- Open Microsoft Paint
- On the top left corner is a symbol without a name (other programs name is FILE, but in this case it is just a symbol). Click that and then click OPEN
- Pick the PNG file you created earlier
- Click "FILE" Symbol again, then Print - Page Setup
- Under SCALING pick ADJUST TO: and leave at 100%

When you now print this page, it will be EXACTLY to what you want it to be in "real life" (for the lack of a better word, ha ha). In other words, if you measured your tape to be 100mm long and 15mm high, it will be EXACTLY 100mm x 15mm. I guess you call this TO SCALE?!

Done.

I know it sounds a bit complicated, but it really isn't. I was actually looking for a way to create a turret tape for my new MTC Viper Pro. I also made a video. I say some things on there that I do not want to share, so I just picked a stupid song and slapped it over my voice... : )

"Sheharyar"Kmd Thanks Pal!
Its a bit long process but it is free.
No problem...

Like I said, it looks complicated and "long" at first, but once you tried it, you will get the hang of it and find it really easy and "short", if you know what I mean?!

And it is FREE!

p.s. Let me know once you tried it if there is anything I can improve on my method?!

I wrap a piece of blue painters tape around my turret. Then I go out to the back yard and zero my rifle. Mark the tape with a tick and then the range(30yds for me). Then it's a matter of shooting at my target at the ranges I need marked on my turret. No computer needed. Also remember that depending on temperature and barometric pressure not only does the BC of your chosen pellet change but the scope will shift as well, throwing off your chosen clicks. Welcome to being a serious hair pulling airgunner:)

No doubt the Komputor will get you close, but doing it at the range, whether your back yard or the gun range is the best way. Every match I go to shooters will spend close to an hour working out how their gun is shooting differently than how the computer program predicted. I never spend more than 15mins sighting in. Yes, the computer makes things easier, but then you have to go outside to confirm that what it tells you is correct, and if not spend more time fudging numbers to get the clicks right.. Why not just spend that time shooting and getting to know your gun.scope.pellet?

Hold on a second... I just realized that we are not even talking about the same thing! I am not talking about using a computer to "predict" my point of impact. I am referring to using a computer to design the tape! So rather than having some handwritten piece of paper/tape on my scope, I would rather have something cool/professional looking on it.

I am totally agreeing with you when it comes to putting in the work at the range, backyard or what not. I do that every time I shoot Magpies in the backyard! I always place a few shots at a log that is at the same range the Magpies will be. That way I know that I am right on target...

That said, I am planning on doing the same thing with the range tape for my MTC Viper Pro. I am going to put a plain piece of paper on the turret, take all the shots at the distances I chose, and then use the "control" to create a nice looking piece of paper on the computer.

: )
