How to Turn Power Up in Stock FX PANTHERA .22 (Regulator Adjustment)?

How to you turn the power up, step by step, on a FX Pantera. In .22, it's shooting 18.1gr at 890 FPS, but its already on 23 on the power wheel (highest setting). The reg is at about 85 bar. I'm guessing I need to adjust the reg up? ...so I can shoot 25.4gr at 890.

How do you safely adjust the reg on a Pantera? Please provide clear and detailed instructions. ...like which screw to turn and what direction, gassed or degassed? do you pull the trigger once after you remove the bottle? all that stuff.

If you need the 18.1gr tune, or the factory out of the box tune, here it is. Just match this and your 18.1gr will fly exactly 890 for 70-90 shots per fill (I can't remember which, at least 70)

How to Tune a PANTHERA:

* NEVER shoot a Panthera below the regulator pressure.
* NEVER adjust the Regulator above 180 bar.
* Set the Regulator at the lowest possible pressure to achieve the desired velocity.
* Remove AMMO before adjusting Regulator.

Turning the Reg UP:
* You must have more air in the tank than the desired reg pressure, before you start.
With air in the gun, gently turn the allen screw inside the front top corner of the trigger guard no more than 1/4 turn counter clockwise to increase Reg pressure, check the dial, Repeat until the needle reads the desired pressure.

Turning the Reg DOWN:
* Make sure gun is EMPTY of AMMO before you start.
With air in the gun, turn the reg adjustment allen screw clockwise no more than 1/4 turn to decrease reg pressure.
Shoot the gun with no ammo a few times untill the reg pressure stops dropping. That is your new reg pressure. Repeat if nessecary.

It boggles my mind that an air gun reviewer that has “tuned” and tested so many guns in the past INCLUDING a plethora of FX rifles is asking a question as simple in the air gun tuning world as this. Then DEMANDING detailed instructions to do so.

It boggles my mind that an air gun reviewer that has “tuned” and tested so many guns in the past INCLUDING a plethora of FX rifles is asking a question as simple in the air gun tuning world as this. Then DEMANDING detailed instructions to do so.

I knew someone would say that. The truth is I never learned to read. I can't read the manual...if I had one. So thanks for making me feel even worse about myself! (and Thanks to Bug-A-Boo for typing this for me).

Sorry Nate but I have to agree. No need even for a manual as it is pretty straight forward. I didn’t read everything posted but with the reg set that low now you will probably have to adjust the HS tension up with the reg pressure to get what you desire. Maybe someone can chime in on that. I will just say remember that 1 is lesss than 2, 2 is less than 3 and so forth. 😂😂

Darn, OK. I will try it now. I put the reg to 110 bar from 85 bar. Trying to get. The HST is the large dial? I being serious now. I don't know where the HST is on an FX.

OK, The "power wheel" is the HST adjustment. It's recommended to start at 13 each time you change tunes or reg pressure.
I guessed at 110 bar. If I used the wheel now to achieve 890fps with 25.4gr. How would I know 110 was the correct reg pressure?

Should I turn the HST wheel to 22/23 and tune with my reg only? or get it to 890 fps, with the power wheel at 13. The last option sounds most correct.

What do you guys think?

NEVER ADJUST the POWER WHEEL when GUN IS COCKED!!!

The way I got to 890 fps with the 25.4gr was 120 bar on the Reg. Macro Wheel at 22 and the Micro Adjuster at 4.
Somewhere between 125 and 140 bar on the reg the power started going down. 170 on the Reg and 22 and 4 got me 700 something fps. Once I went back down to 115 bar, I had 950fps on the 25.4gr. I had to go up and down and all around and I ended up nailing 891fps with the tuen above. OMG!! that took about 100 of my finest pellets!

Also, the Macro wheel seemed to do NOTHING. It would get the same FPS on 13 or 22. ????

If anyone else has a different way of tuning for 25.4 gr (different seetings that work) please share them.

Only the micro setting determines the hammer. The macro wheel jogs the micro by a few clicks at a time - turn it and watch.

Btw, you are way over the hammer peak at micro = 4 and that why macro doesn’t work. If you turn micro down to 3 then 2.75, 2.5, etc, at some point you’ll start to gain fps and be on the right side of the power curve. You’re hitting the valve so hard and fast that it isn’t opening properly.

Weevil, Thank you! Now were getting somewhere. I can't explain it to the viewers if I don't understand it myself. Thanks for the info! I will fiddle with it again.

I may need to start another thread to explore this hammer business. I hope I can figure it out!

One more question: If someone turned the Macro wheel, lets say left, all the way from 1-22 and then kept turning left, what would happen? it would read, lets say 7 again, but it would not be the same 7 as before. Would turning the wheel more than one revolution just move my Micro wheel more? Until it stops on either side? ...meaning that the Macro wheel really is meaningless, aside from it's one job of clicking the Micro wheel either direction faster.

The number 7 on the macro will give you the same micro no matter how many times you rotate it. Try it - you see it make a huge jog between 23 and 1 - resetting itself. I hate to use this analogy cause it’s flawed but in relation to your question, it is like presets on an old radio.

What’s important to note here is that you can set the macro to any value to begin with and then leave it and set your tune via the micro. If you started with macro at 23 then you only have the option of using the macro subsequently to reduce speed. Vice versa if the macro was initially set to 1. Or you can set it in between and have the option to increase or decrease! The idea is that you can change projectiles and maintain a key, like “hades have the perfect speed at macro 8, redesigns at macro 15, 30g Javelin slug at macro 23”

Sadly, FX never seem to include a good explanation of this. But then again, apparently you can’t read 😳

Nate - you’re welcome. Please mention that it works the same way on the M3 and other FX like the Maverick and Wildcat. It’s just that the micro on the latter is hidden behind the power wheel and is adjusted through the little hole with a hex key. So many people don’t understand this and think that the macro and micro do different things. It’s part of the reason why FX guns get labeled as “too complex” when in fact, when you understand this, they become the easiest to setup for different ammo!
