Huben Huben gk1 .254 slugs

So everywhere I looked the memo seemed to be that the gk1 shoots slugs with a slightly bigger diameter. I just got some NSA slugs today that were .254 and they seem to be too big for the magazine. It has jammed my gun up multiple times. Now I am not knocking NSA or anything. But I was just posting this to let everyone know that there is a chance that .254 may be a bit too big for your huben.

My gk1 is 25 cal V3. I understand there is a huge huben thread talking about ammo but I figured I would ask if Jsb hades will shoot well through it. Right now I have 3 packs of ammo that will not work through this gun so I want to make sure I get the right ammo so I don’t keep wasting money. Thanks

Too big because they are too long? Unless your barrel is different, it should work. Some gk1s can fit 11mm long slugs, but a safer bet is staying just under 10.9mm from what I've seen and made.

Jams with mine only occurred when my spring and rubber ring got damaged, or when I had the trigger pull too light, or when trying to fire with less than around 12-13 mpa in the gun. Or if the slugs are too long but that should be apperant when loading

From what he’s saying, the diameter is too big. If they’re hard to push into the mag, I wouldn’t say it’s a length issue.
I’ve heard that some of the Huben mags were machined slightly smaller. Wondering if the gk1 came with similar mags. Try some smaller slugs. AVS makes a number of sizes that aren’t available anywhere else to help customize for your personal gun. Give him a shout. See what he says.

huben has a long history of inconsistency in the magazines - imo this is probably their weakest point.
i have a gk1 and a k1. the k1 is .2193 and the gk1 is like .223 - i do have to use different slugs for them...so per batch of of gk1's that come...magazines could vary! best thing to do is 1. ask the seller if they know the mag diameter for that batch and 2. measure it to verify!

No it isn’t a length issue. It is definitely the diameter. There is lead shaving coming off of the magazine holes like it would for a cap and ball revolver lol. I may just end up using pellets, the dealer said that’s all they use through the gk1 and they have never failed him.

So far this looks like the only flaw in the gun. Hopefully in the future they make them with removable mags I think that could fix a lot of the problems.

Like many airgunner's do, I tried slugs in the GK1 as well. They shot about the same group size as pellets. But because they had more chance to jam, and higher cost, I just use cheap pellets for most shooting sessions. Realistically because it is just a short range shooter the JSB King Heavy pellets provide just as much power and accuracy as a hollow point slug does, and has more consistent fps along the whole shot string. When (if) the JSB Hades Monster/Heavy slugs in. 25 caluber come out, they will provide about the same terminal performance on game as a slug but will not likely have any potential to jam; the best of both worlds.

I wanted to give a quick update in the name of not spreading misinformation. I noticed that the 254 nsa slugs DO indeed fit. The issue is seating it into the magazine properly. It is quite a pain but krazy kool airguns has a video on his channel talking about this issue. Any pellet or slug u put in the magazine has to be pushed in the magazine for it to seat properly. You can use a pen or anything else that is strong and pointed. It does require a decent amount of force but the 254 NSA slugs do fit after doing this.

Try AVS .253. Should still be snug, but easier to load

I got in touch with Nick over at Nielsen’s specialty Ammo and he said, “We get mixed reviews on slugs in that gun. Some have said .217 sized slug work in the gun. Probably not too heavy since the pistols do not have the power of a rifle.” Gonna try the .217s and see how it goes
idk man from what ive seen this pistol is more powerful than a lottt of rifles in its caliber lol

You’re having a problem due to the lead recipe.
NSA has antimony in it which makes the lead harder. You need to use pure lead slugs which are more malleable. I use AVS slugs. .254 flat base 42 gr. This info was procured from Kelly at Krazykool. You can also use .253 which fit better but .254 shoot better. The other reason I use .254 is that I also have the k1 which uses the .254 so I only need one slug for both.
Keep the n mind that the Gk1 is not designed for slugs it specifically designed for pellets hence the mag design that grabs the pellet skirt when you push it in.
Any questions or issues that you might have with Huben you can text or call Kelly @ Krazykool, he is the Huben Wizard and knows both guns inside out. He is also the warranty repair person for many of the dealers.
