Huben Huben GK1 v3 .25 Question

Hello all,

I just bought a Huben GK1 v3 .25 from a fellow AGN member. I am hoping to receive it before the weekend. I have a few questions hoping you guys can answer.

The seller uses AVS .254 flat dish slugs. What other slugs do you use that will work well with the Huben GK1? For pellets, what do you recommend? I've only shot pellets, specifically JSB Hades for my other air guns (Notos, PROD, AEA SF).

What stock options do I have?

Lastly, any highly recommended modifications I should do? Any attachments? Loading gate? Donny FL 1/2x20 adapter?

NSA .254 slugs 33.5 and 38.5

There are so many threads on the best ammo for the GK1, we should not be reinventing the wheel. I exclusively use the JSB 25. 4 gr and 33.9 gr pellets. There is no advantage to using any slugs and the GK1 is designed for pellets not slugs. It is the rear bevel at the entrance to the magazine that retains the pellet. It catches the skirt of the pellet. Slugs have no skirt and can only be held in place by friction.. The magazine bore size is.250" exactly. The JSB pellet skirt is .260". If the slug slips forward in the magazine it will jam.

You are exactly correct steve.....makes no sense as to why people want to use slugs in these guns when the available pellets in the sizes that you mention work so well both for accuracy and function in the GK1.
Oh well, you can lead a horse to water.....

Avs 254 42 grain flat base. NSA do not fit in well the lead is alloyed and too hard. Avs is pure lead and more malleable. Zan 253. Best slugs are altars but expensive and hard to get. Avs 253 fit better but don’t shoot better. I also have the k1 which take the 254 so it’s simpler to have one size. In answer to why shoot slugs from GK1, it’s fun the sheer punching power is amazing. I normally use the Aea 25/34grn or jsb mkll for target and plinking but for destructive fun the slugs can’t be beat. Aside from the safety issues these guns are amazing for fun and home defense. At the moment nothing out there that checks so many boxes in a clean simple design. I have a well operating lcs but I always grab my k1 first. Nothing is perfect but these are close.
