Huben Hammerless K1

I think Huben plans 3 good importers, but currently only 2 have sample guns. Im sure one of the importers will get trained on how to service the guns. Currently if mine breaks I will be on my own with help from Huben via email. I spent some time looking over the Airgun Nation threads, and I see some expensive airguns that don't shoot any better than the Huben K1 and not Semi-auto or as powerful as the K1. At 50 yards this gun will shoot ~ dime sized groups at over 1000 fps. So looking back Im not sure all the controversy is fair?

At 75 yards I can do ~1-1.5" groups of 10 shots. So, my question is what should be expected out of a $1500.00 semi-auto PCP airgun? What am I missing? I shot my FX Monsoon ($1500.00 gun) and the group I can shoot from it, in the gun vice is only slightly smaller and not even close to the power of the K1. I don't want to start another beatdown of me here, BUT is part of the problem the fact the gun was designed and manufactured in Asia (designed in HK and made in China) and not Europe, US, or the UK? The controversy has been crazy!

I wish Petr at TGAG had a K1 so he could give us his thoughts!

WB I see your perspective. Some Americans also have the "Asian flu" when it comes to scopes too. It seems less well known that some of the big name scope manufacturers have their glass supplied by Asian companies; some from Japan, or the Philippines, or Chine. My understanding is that the quality of any glass from any Asian supplier is just a matter of how much the Brand wants to spend on glass. Top-quality glass costs no matter where you buy it. Along that line, kudos to Leapers for having an American firm produce it's new 1-8 scope, including manufacturing the glass in-house.Very few scope brands make grind own glass. My perspective on glass comes from this video (discussion starts at 17:28 into the video, but the whole 40 minutes is very instructive):

So, the discussion of country of origin takes a back seat for me. It's only all about quality of manufacture and the performance of the product that command the interest of where I spend my $$. We are all used to reading about MOA accuracy of X airguns at 100 yards. At the same time we have read that X gun will out-perform the shooter. I think we air-gunners have a bias towards fabled accuracy and maybe nothing short of MOA accuracy will do. Whether we shoot well enough to take advantage of it or not is always a secondary concern. Being honest with myself, I fall into that category. I want the gun to outperform me (so I can aspire to better shooting skills with a gun that can get me there; show my improvement). But I am not a competition shooter. I'm a plinker. I've done some mild competitive shooting, and placed mid-pack, but I don't practice enough to get any better even at 25 yards. I'm just an "OK" shooter, a plinker.

So, WB you've done me a service by giving me reason to pause and think about the Huben K1 with a dose of personal reality. Thank you for that. The K1 seems reliable, per your reports. Were I to own one, I'd definitely try to find the projectile it likes just as you and I do for every gun we own. In retrospect, it seems a lot of money for the price. I hope Huben gets it's dealership network enlarged and sorted out in the good old US of A, and that after purchase service becomes a star with the brand. I'm already rethinking where to allocate my airgun $$ next. Nice post, man.
PS about the scope video, the guy knows his stuff if you decide to subscribe to him. In the video I linked, i used it to decide my scope for my Edgun R3M, and selected a SWFA 16x42 with the excellent Mil-quad reticle. The brand performs above it's price range, making it a great buy. I have no regrets.

Looks like Huben will soon be shipping guns that are pre ordered. So soon I will have some help in finding out what shoots well!
As for the barrels, I have the current barrel so what is shipping is the same as I have.

A bit of other news, I test shot some new EUNJIN 28.5 gr pellets today, first impression is outstanding! I have a new 4 power optic (Lucid P7) showing up tomorrow so if the wind will die down, I will have some good shooting this weekend. From test shots I did late today this pellet does NOT spiral so long range shooting should be improved!

Hey, I was just looking around for different pellets for my airguns and I came across the PDG portion of the predator international site. I know you have been trying to find the perfect pellet(s) for the Huben K1 and was wondering, have you tried the .22 cal 26.0 grain destroyer pellets? They appear to have the design of a normal bullet, so that might be a plus, but unfortunately I don't have an airgun to test out their long range performance. Your thoughs???

I copied a test result from TGAG: "I took The Huben K-1 to my backyard range to test out the accuracy. First I turned the power dial down to where the 15.9 JSB are 950 fps. The first groups were not so good. I tried heavies; not so good either. It'll get a raccoon but forget the chipmunk. WHAT's goin' on here ! The Huben has a lot of adjustments to speed AND power. By power, I'm referring to the setting of the regulator. The gauge on the side shows the reg. psi-- 155 bar ----Maybe a bit too much for the soft JSB. Or too much turbilance from the high psi. So I turned the reg down to 110-115 and whalla---groups shrunk down a lot. I can't say they are benchrest groups but you can get that chipmunk now.I then tried out the power potential with pellets. I dialed the speed up [reg still @ 110] to 940-950 with JSB 25 gr Monsters. Same groups; about 5/8 to 3/4 at 30 yds --- acceptable hunting accuracy for out-of-the-box.Next time I will test out some swaged bullets.:"
Perhaps a useful perspective?

Thanks for that update! I for one am glad some others are shooting the K1, as more guns get out there I am confident the right combination of rounds / PSI will be found to make the gun shoot great. There are many that have way more experience in airguns than me, so I am excited that TGAG is now shooting the gun.

I did not get the chance to shoot this weekend, I did receive a large assortment of new pellets to try. But, in true MT fashion the weather did not let me shoot.

Wlbryce, would you mind listing the top 3 pellets that have performed best for you in your Huben? I know individual mileage will vary, but it will give a great starting point for others.

Thanks for for all the write-ups regarding this gun. What you said about the MOA accuracy versus the average shooter really resonated with me. I don't think I can shoot sub MOA even if the gun can. I'm 44 years old and the body and eyes aren't the same as when I was 18.

I shot a bunch of the Rabbit Magnums and could not get a good group (see the first page of this thread). Right now, I have 5 more types of pellets to try but the weather (cold wind!) is not giving me the chance to see how they do. At 50 yards I can do easy quarter sized (mostly tighter) groups of 10 shots without flyers, shooting the Predator polymags. Even at 100 yards I can get larger birds. NOT sub MOA, but ok. I am old and cant shoot that well at the longer ranges on such small targets! My Bi focals get in the way. Poly Mag is a great hunting pellet and I am shooting it at 1050 fps, so it has lots of energy. Until I find something that shoots better, that is what is in the K1 now. The Pile Drivers shot good, but only at a low power setting. That takes away from the K1 because it is capable of shooting .22 rounds at high velocity with high energy semi auto. Some other shoot OK, and if I can get the time and weather to play with them more. PA is making some $ off me in pellet sales!!

"wlbryce"So far shooting any pellets, supersonic does not produce good results. Have been waiting to get some H&N Piledrivers to shoot. At 30 grains they just might be what I need, Just saw the lead time has been moved from 10/9 to 10/25!!! so who know when I will get them.

Would like to find some heavy lead slugs but so far no luck.

I am sure once the right pellet is found the gun will be able to shoot out to 100 with some accuracy.
You might check out NielsenSpecialtyAmmo.com as he has some .22 slugs. I haven’t seen anyone else selling any .22 slugs though.

This dutch user’s review shows me the truth and proves Aaronchow and RiverDevil are right.Wlbryce , you are not a rude dick, but a hypocrite\***** who deliberately hid the other side of the story.
Tell me where Gregor and I differ? We even agree on the performance of the same pellets?
I have watched his review and it is almost identical to mine in every way.
Go ahead call me names, I stand by my postings and review, and after reading over all it again Gregor and I have the same results.

Hypocrite / *****? hardly. Lets see you do a review and see how easy it is.
