Huben Hammerless K1

"wlbryce"I think the danger is extremely low, would be like saying the high PSI bottle on a rear tank gun would blow off.
The gun has a regulator, so even if it was to "Blow out" it is not even near the working pressure of the tank. In my case it is 1800 PSI.

I have several thousand rounds through the gun, this is not even on my radar.
OMG. That's a lot of rounds. How did you acquire the Huben? Are you here in the US? I would like to see what the farthest distance would be hitting a target. Well.....scope permitting that is lol. Thank you very much for the reviews!

Installed another scope today and shot 2 tins of the H&N Rabbit Mag 25.777 gr pellets. Had the pellets so I figured that I would try to see if I could force the gun to like them. With the crono, I started shooting at 750 fps all the way to1200 fps. I could get some dime sized groups for 5-6 shots and a bunch of flyers.

Normally I would not use such a large scope on any of my guns because of the weight and size. But, some want to see how it shoots at the longer ranges. No matter what I did I could not get the K1 to shoot well with this pellet. I could see the pellets spiraling as they leave the barrel.

This is a new type gun, as such I have yet to fine the "perfect" pellet to shoot. When I got my FX Monsoon it was easy as a bunch of people have FX guns and finding the right pellet because most had figured out what the FX guns shoot well.

Some are calling BS on me as to the number of pellets I have shot! Well the gun as a 19 round mag that can be loaded in less than a min without all the fumbling of the FX mags. That combined with the semiauto operation and high shot count you can burn through a tin of pellets in 30 minutes. A tin of 200 pellets is only 10 mag fills!

So... I will order more pellets and keep shooting!

Hi. I have been following this review because I have pre-ordered the K1 over 3 month ago (I am from Europe). I really like the review, but I do have some questions and suggestions while I am eagerly waiting for the gun. In my experience, most accurate pellets for high power .22 airguns are H&N Baracuda match. In my gun, they are extremely accurate up to 320 m/s (1050 fps). Also accurate are the Piledrivers that you have already mentioned and in my opinion, considering the guns power, they will be perfect for it. JSB monster would also be a good idea to test...
My questions are: Do you know if the barrel is choked? You wrote that you got 1275 fps with 33 grain slugs. That is way higher energy that they claim on the web page (around 120 ft-lbf). What regulator pressure did you have set to achieve such high energy? What is the maximum pellet length to fit in the magazine?
Thank you for all the info...

Instigator- I have not had any jams or malfunctions other than indexing . Once I figured out the problem with the indexing I have not had the problem anymore. Huben correctly identified the issue with my setup and it was quickly corrected. I have never cleaned my barrel, Huben did provide me with instructions on how to clean it, I guess it might be time!

Gregor- I ordered the suggested pellets tonight! Will let you know, how they shoot. I shot the 33 gr rounds with the regulator wide open and a 4500 PSI tank pressure. This thing will shoot like a .22 rimfire when set like that, altho it is not accurate using the rounds I had. I do not think the barrel is choked. I did disassemble the shroud off the barrel and it looks to be a well made micro groove. I think 10.25mm would be the max length on the pellets, maybe slightly more. But, the EunJin pellets I had would not work and were just a little to long. I did not measure them .

Wow amazing! Thank you again for your comprehensive review. How did you correct the indexing if you don't mind me asking?

Just got my .25 Lelya and hopefully get my Huben from Michael soon.

When the gun has an indexing issue it will "dump" air out the mag area (loud Buzzing noise). This is caused by an improper regulator and delivery valve adjustment.
So, if the regulator is set low, and you turn up the delivery valve to a high setting the gun will dump (allowing for more flow than the regulator is set to give). The same can happen if the regulator is set for a high PSI then the delivery valve is set to the lowest value then it can dump. Of course this is my take on it, as I do not have a full understanding of how the valve works.

Once Huben advised on this, I would make sure the delivery valve adjustment is in the midrange setting to work with the regulator. This would be my starting point moving the shot power up and down from there.

I know it sounds confusing, but it is real simple once you play with it. I was first really worried as I got the gun, started shooting and twisting the knobs then it would dump the air! I would then rotate the mag then put it on safe to stop the air, and wonder if I got a lemon. Then my wife gave me bad looks as she is the one who footed the bill for it!
Hopefully by the time you get yours, Huben will have the manual worked out and have some TS charts in it.

Hi, I have been reading your review and i am impatient to get mine through my dealer in my country. I have been contacting Huben by email and there are some delays due to some technical paper works back in China. if you have your Huben before all of us, i guess you must be a priveliged person which i would real thank you for the pre-reviews of the Huben. In their video we can see a heavy pellet exploding rocks, do you know what are they? also they said Huben is made for long range shooting. How far will it shoot in comparison to the Edgun long range, accuracy etc..? Maybe i am rushing you on those questions, but hey you satisfied our curiosity on this air rifle so keep the info going..
Thanx again

The MRODAIR video was good! I did not see anything that was wrong, the gun is real pellet picky. Got some JSB Jumbo Monsters 25.39 gr and some H&N Barracuda Match 21.14 gr to try out. Hope to shoot tomorrow if the weather will allow. Still waiting on the PileDrivers to arrive, thinking that pellet will be the ticket.

They never mentioned anything about indexing air dumps, but seeing that they will tune the gun before shipping. Im sure that tuning will eliminate any problems with that until the owner starts to play with the regulator.

I already posted how much appreciate your review as this is most likely my next gun. I am an Engineer and have seen many pressure gauges catastrophically fail over the years (mainly when pressurizing a system). Some have failed at the blowout plug but others have blown at the face. I think someone else mentioned it but do you have any reservations about having a +/- 2000 psi pressurized gauge on your jugular while shooting? Just seems bad but maybe not in actual use.

thanks
AJ

Hi AJ

If the gauge was reading and connected to the main supply tube I would feel alittle less confident on the gauges placement.
5000 PSI is X times higher than 2000 PSI. Not to say that 2000 PSI is low or not dangerous because it is.

The bottom line is that I never even give it a 2nd thought, but after my years in the military maybe my threshold for dangerous things is higher than most and Im waiting to become the next darwin award winner!

My stupid act of the day was knocking the gun over while I was filling it, good thing the Joe B tank has a small orifice for slow filling. If this would have been a full flow SCBA or SCUBA tank it would have been a lot more fun. Now I have to make a new fill probe! So maybe by the time my Pile Driver slugs arrive I will be shooting again!
