Huben K1 .25 + Altaros slugs =?

I bought the Altaros smooth 51.5gr slugs and the arrived this past week. Very awesome little slugs. The quality and consistency is unsurpassed. Give me another week or so to pin down what velocity they shoot best at and I'll post it. Their website says 1000fps. I've emailed them asking for clarification as I'm pushing mine at 950 right now (40yds). I just a little afraid I'll be maxing my gun out. And Kelly from KraZcool was also thinking that might be too much. Time will tell. But I'd definitely order some. They're really nice.

Hi all. Anyone have more experience with the altaros slugs and the huben 25? I have a 22 (2021 model i think but definitely the new barrel) and I'm considering getting a 25 upgrade. Tbh I've been really disappointed with the new huben barrel and slugs. To date I've only gotten the altaros smooth to work in 22. But altaros recommend only shooting at about 900fps and for good reason. If I use my pellet settings for JSB 34gr (about 180 bar with power wheel half way) they're all over the show. Drop the pressure to 160 and they shoot nicely. With the BC i love them. But only 60 foot pounds. If I do the upgrade I'll be getting the new barrel of course. Anyone have experience of the 25 with the new barrel using altaros smooth, which is rated for 1000fps at 51 grain? If so do you use the .254? Another option I guess is the ZAN 41gr. If anybody has used them I'd love to know what kind of velocity they like. Thank you!

Hi there. Did you give these a try? Which huben model do you have? Group well at 40?

Well my Huben went South on me. I'm not sure what happened, but while trying to squeeze more out of it, I broke it somehow. LSS after many texts B/F with Kelly, he shipped me parts. Still didn't work. Shipping it back to him tomorrow. Will be at least a week. BUT... to answer your question, my K1 shoots the 50gr Altaros at 890fps the best out to 60yds. But I was trying higher speeds to see if I could flatten the drop past that a bit. Time will tell. Again.

Oh no sorry to hear that. Yeah they can really be finicky beasts. Have had a few catastrophic failures myself. Hence I'm uncertain about spending the money to get the 25... am I throwing good money at bad... but yeah yesterday I had a great time shooting the 22 smooth altaros slugs at 100m. Maybe a 10 shot group under 2 inches and I wouldn't say I am the best shot nor was I perfectly stable while shooting. A rear sandbag would've helped. Still I'm pushing 60 foot pounds in 22 whereas you're doing closer to 90 with the 25.

Well I would not be uncertain about getting a Huben in 25. I was thinking about buying another one that was on sale here a couple days ago, but didn't have the money to spend at the time. overall, I think they are a very stable, reliable platform. I think my problem was I was trying to push it too far and over tweaked it. Plus I found out I had 28 instead of 30 belleville washers in mine. (some came out that way) I'm not actually sure, but from what I read in various posts, adding the other two might give me a little extra boost on my Altaros slugs. I also have to recognize that's still quite a bit of slug to throw downrange so I may end up sticking to my former secret sauce of 890fps. Time will tell

I just bought some Alteros 50g .25 smooth slugs for my Huben GK-1 . At war with s large ground hog on my small patch , and want the ( what I perceived to be)...the Binford load to go up against . They just dropped in the magazine kinda loose comparatively , and the rotation jammed right away preventing the complete loading first time out. Not being sure sure what was going on ( Newbie ,had the gun less than a month)...I tried it out to see if it would fire ...and it did for 5 slugs then a misfire 3 times...still jammed. I will unload the rest , if I can somehow ( magazine doesn't turn either way. ) and look for a recommended round for. 50g weight would be nice ( ?)... that is trouble free in the fit. . Then back to the hunt.

I know nothing of the K-1 . Only GK-1 so far . The Alteros slugs do not work in mine , period . Much looser ...and the problem was immediate. But as far as I could tell ...with my pistol , was it was in the magazine rotation only. It shot them off seemingly with no problem , when the turret had a slug come in to position ...which did happen 3-4 times. Beautifully made ammo tho.
Anyone know what similar high powered air pistol to the Huben.....would shoot these slugs.?

These slugs taper to a smaller diameter to the rear of the slug. With a bulging centre section. Similar to what I've seen others call Boat tail slugs. I think this may be part of the problem. I've measured my magazine openings and the dealer says they are right on spec. I WILL get it sorted out , and report back later . All other ammo @ .25 I've tried work perfectly in this gun so far ....granted it's only been a few week I've had it .
