Huben Huben Pistol GK1 questions?

I see a lot of threads on this Huben GK1. Is it a match pistol or just an expensive Notos. I have a Notos and don't consider it a match pistol. But it is fun. Is a Huben GK1 a comptetitive 10m pistol or just a back yard plinker/starling killer that can be made into a carbine - like the Notos? $1600 for a GK1/$260 for a Notos. I don't get it.

It is neither one. Not a match pistol, not comparable to a notos. Have you taken a look at the specs and shot strings folks have been posting?

Nowhere near on the same playing field but also not a match pistol, although you can get damn near hole on hole groups. You can turn the GK1 from as long as 4 pr 6fpe to as high as 74fpe in .22 and over 80fpe in .25

Set up as a carbine I've made headshots on 2 foot iguanas at 73yds, that's about a 1" - 1.25" target. You can make the GK1 whatever you want with an adjustable trigger that is light and crisp, the semi auto is reliable, it is quiet with a moderator of course. And you can get a lot of shots from the small airtube for relaitively good power. Notos 18fpe for 20 shots, GK1 40fpe for 25-30 shots and 23fpe for 60-65 shots from 350b to 120b.

Simply put, the Notos is a simple poppet and hammer spring/weight style of pcp pistol of standard/old technology with minimal parts. Whereas the GK1 is a newly engineered semi-auto pcp with a lot of moving parts. The standard GK1 is $1,250.00 through Kelly at krazcool.com

Hey, an't my red Ryder BB gun just as good all them PCP rifles, I can hit a can at 30 yards every time,
And if I want to shoot pellets , I pull the smooth bore out Crosman 760, I can stack pellets at 30 yards...
The words of the ledgene the trick shooting in my area , Mike Branson , (rest in peace)
I seem him shoot aspirins out of the air,,
Always buy the best you can afford ,

You won't regret buying one...Impressive and extremely accurate. Available for $1250 in many places.

I'm not getting it. I can buy a $200 PB that does everything a GKI does. If I want accuracy in an air pistol I would go Steyr, if I want semi auto FPE I would go PB.
You can’t even get a can for a .22 PB for $200. The tax stamp alone will run you that. And that’s assuming you live in a state that allows them.

By the time you’ve bought a decent .22 like a Ruger Mk4 or a Browning Buckmark with a threaded barrel and purchased a silencer for it you’re at $800+ and if it won’t shoot quietly then it doesn’t do everything a GK1 does.

@ Sawney Bean , I built and got my Alphabet org approved Rimfire can for a grand total of $213. But that is not the issue. I am still not computing a semi auto GK1 for over $1000. The only reason I can see paying for a GK1 is either you live somewhere where PBs in .22 are not allowed or you are fascinated with the design. Fascinated with the design is fine. Anything else is is "something else." You have no idea how many Ruger MK pistols I have tuned, folks used to buy them to watch me do my magic on them In the gun shop on a TV dinner tray. I wouldn't give you $2 for a Buckmark. I'm just not seeing anything that makes me want to spend over a grand for a GK1. My custom S200 .177 had one shot killed every squirrel I have ever pointed it. My Streamline at power level 2 with a Hugget mod is as quiet as anything as I have shot besides my tuned S200. My Notos with TS mod is more fun than most "guns" I have had.

I have owned a couple dozen high quality PB .22s. I like my GK1 better than all of them. Even my S&W 41. Heck, I like the GK1 so much I have 3. PCP handguns are not everyone's cup of tea. I would never try to convince someone to give up their PB for a PCP & I am sure no one could ever get me to give up my PCPs for a powder burner.
Here they are hanging around in my cubby hole.

That's a valid argument, but a match .22 rimfire cost the same as a GK1 or more. Then there is the ammo cost thing. Match .22 ammo cost a whole lot more than match grade pellets. I shoot in excess of 10,000 rounds a year. My pellet cost in.25 is 3 1/2 cents each.. Of course on top of that is the cost of HPA, which actually represents a much bigger investment than a gun.

You're in an unusual situation then that makes a .22lr more affordable to you than to the general public. If I wanted to go that route, it would be difficult because selling threaded pistol barrels is illegal here. It doesn't mean I can't figure something out, but it throws a monkey wrench into the works.

For most people an accurate .22 semi-auto with a threaded barrel will cost $400+ and getting a legal can will be another $400+. At that point you're starting to approach the price of a Huben, which I can get shipped to my door no questions asked. For a .22lr on the other hand, I'm stuck waiting nearly a month and likely a week for the silencer. What's more, I can dial the Huben down to 6 fpe and get nearly unlimited shots that won't penetrate the walls of a barn or a garage. Although, I've got to admit that a .22lr loaded with shot shells excels in that indoor pest control role too. For indoor target shooting though the Huben is far better.
