Dave, yes you are correct, but there in lies the problem. That nut's primary purpose is to clamp the shroud to the receiver. HUBEN has also repurposed this nut to also be a moderator adapter. By doing this and the fact that all threads must have a running clearance, the adapter now can take on a potential misalignment with the barrel line because the shroud may not on some guns be square to the barrel. I have both a Version 1 and a Version 3 and they both suffered this misalignment issue. I have brought this issue up with Huben and am waiting for a response.To be clear, the barrel IS threaded for a shroud retaining nut. The nut can be replaced with an adapter (which comes with the gk1) that will allow the use of a moderator. The barrel itself is not threaded ‘for a moderator’.
