I've been shooting Apollo 40 grain slugs in mine, set beautifully in it, accurate. That's pretty much only ammo I use in my gk1 now.
In another thread here on this forum i saw someone measuring the size of this Apolo slug, and it was .251.
So i'm surprised they set in beautifully without moving into the barrel while filling the whole mag?

Well actually no,

A small folding stock Mini-Carbine woud be ligther, more easy to put in a standard backpack and most importantly capable to get the scope closer to the bore.

With the capability that Huben has to make power I would choose a mini-carbine over the pup anyday.
Ditto's!

Rightly so. No need to repeat the failed experiments performed with the rifle and undersized slugs over many years. Even if they avoid snagging, they won’t leave the barrel on axis and fly well. The twist rate is marginal and can’t accommodate stabilizing a wobbling slug. It’s all well documented in the 80page K1 thread. The pistol has the same barrel ID and the size needed is .254. If you don’t want to pay the high price for AVS, NSA has a 38grain .254 at ~18 for 200. I shoot the Altaros in the 254 rifle but they are a pain to acquire and too heavy to make sense in the pistol.
Thanks that is great information but when I go to NSA I do not see any .254? I sent them an inquiry just now....

wow, less than 5 minutes they replied back,

"NSA got back to me quick and confirmed where there .254 ammo is found on their site,

I checked the website and I do see it listed. If you go to our 25 Caliber selection on the website, Go to the 38.5 gr. In the drop down we have the option for 250 or 254.

We dont have straight 38.0 size however, it is 38.5gr

Hope this helps.

Glad you found them. They shoot well out of the rifle.

I am leaning towards the .25 but wanted to know what others thoughts are from spending time with the pistol? If you were shooting pellets with the .25 for accurate plinking what have you found as a sweet range for FPS and how many shots are you getting with that setting before needing to refill? I assume then when you are shooting slugs you increase the velocity for more power and you will likely get less shots but how many do you actually get before you refill?

Only you can answer that question. If your requirement is to punch paper at ranges less than 50 meters, a .177 or .22 would be more than adequate. If you intend to shoot pests inside a building, the smaller calibers are more appropriate. (Think building damage) All airguns are energy limited because of the available air pressures, so if higher energy projectiles are required for either reasons of larger game, longer ranges or less susceptibility to wind then larger calibers are better. Then there is cost. Larger pellets are more expensive than smaller ones. Slugs are more expensive than pellets. Larger calibers consume more air limiting the number of shots per fill. Define your requirements, then make the appropriate caliber choice.

Does anyone know how many turns it is from minimum power to max power?
I don’t shoot mine much. I have it set at 2.75 turns. I think I’m boarderline on wasting air? Think I’m going to go back to 2.50 turns out and do tiny adjustments. I fill to 300 bar only because my compressor maxes out at that.

Kelly at KrazCool Airguns said after about 2.25 turns out, it will max out power (and waste air). He also said there is no "hard stop", so the hex tool would just keep turning but nothing happening.

I have the Huben Pistol GK1 .22.

Everything below is approximate because I am just 'eyeballing' the turns/partial turns out, and exact repeatability is hard to do.

This is what I see from a 250 bar fill. All pellets are seated.

- 1.00 turns out - JSB 18.13 - 15-16 ft/lbs.
- 1.25 turns out - JSB 18.13 - 20-21 ft/lbs.
- 1.50 turns out - JSB 18.13 - 26-28 ft/lbs.
- 1.75 turns out - JSB 18.13 - 31-32 ft/lbs.
- 2.00 turns out - JSB 18.13 - 34-35 ft/lbs.
- 2.25 turns out - JSB 18.13 - 39-40 ft/lbs.
- 2.50 turns out - JSB 18.13 - 38-39 ft/lbs. (power dropped).

- 1.50 turns out - JTS 18.1 - 26-28 ft/lbs.

- 1.50 turns out - JTS 21.53 - 29-30 ft/lbs.

- 1.50 turns out - JSB/FX 25.39 - 32 ft/lbs.
- 1.75 turns out - JSB/FX 25.39 - 38-39 ft/lbs.
- 2.00 turns out - JSB/FX 25.39 - 43-44 ft/lbs. (only 10 shots from 250-170 bar. I had to stop as pistol got extremely loud)

What a wonderful easy tunable piece.

Definitely is. My .25 I have tuned for ~40 fpe and get one full mag from 250 down to 150bar. I have no interest in trying to fill it to 300 or 350 bar - seems like a fools pursuit that will get old quick. I don't need a 60 fpe pistol.
