Airforce Huben regulator help needed

Hello, I bought the Huben Cricket power regulator brand new directly from Huben. I put it on my Air Force Condor 22 cal, and the speed and power of the gun was literally cut in half.
The 40 grain .218 slugs shoot 907 fps without the regulator and 523 fps with the regulator. The lightest slug I have is 21 grains and they shoot 817 fps. The shots are all over the place too.
Shall I just give up on the regulator idea or is there something you guys know that I can do?

I forgot to say the regulator is on the the highest setting.

There was a thread here of AGN discussing this reg and someone reported seeing worse results and inconsistent shot string with this reg vs without. Interesting if it’s the same case. Let’s me look it up…

Here it is but it’s not exactly the same issue as you experience. Maybe Cricket regs are not that good.

The gauge says 2. I have tried to get it higher but the air leaks out of the Regulating pressure screw. My tank is at 3000 psi

I saw that thread and his unregulated shots are more than I get, but maybe he is shooting a lighter slug. I get 4 shots and the speed steadily declines by at least 10fps. At 100+ yards , it's really noticeable. I hate having to refill the tank after 10 shots. I lose 1000 psi after the 6th shot.

Yes regulators on Airforce cut power big time...There okay for super light pellets.in .177 and .22.. I shoot all my Airforce on a external regulator off my scba tank...

Ok, thank you for the input. I found a 18 grain slugs from Rifle, I will try those. If all else fails, I will consider a .177 cal barrel.

I saw a high power regulator made by Doug Noble, the plenum was huge, very large diameter.

I have an Altaros reg and plenum extension but power is still low in .25. Good for .177 though.

I did try some old cross man 14.8 pellets and the speed was back up to 925 fps and the groups were improved, not as good as unregulated. So I ordered a tin of jsb Diablo 16 grain. Hopefully this will work.

You can pretty easily and cheaply get a 1 L paintball bottle with regulator...They have adjustable and set pressure regulators up to 3000 psi..Between $20.00 and $45.00... Then you could shoot your condor full power...It's much more convenient for.target shooting... Everything stays the same till regulator drops off.. I like power are airgun s are already a lil handicap
