Tuning HUMA regulator initial setting

Hi, Received new Daystate Huntsman Revere HUMA and am setting up.

HUMA fixed pressure gauge needle is at “0” mark. Isn’t the HUMA regulator factory pre-set at a specified fixed output, in which case the gauge needle wouldn’t be at “0” mark, but set and fixed at a higher number?

Sorry if this is a really basic question. It’s my first PCP and I’m learning... The Revere is beautiful and I’m itching to shoot it. Thanks for your help.

So I think your talking about the pressure gauge. to add to that, I’m not sure if the huntsman has a gauge that will indicate regulator output.

The gauge aren’t fixed, they indicator whatever pressure in the gun.

the regulator is usually bought with specification on what bar u want it set at prior to shipping to you.

once a regulator is added to gun, you effectively create two vessels of air. The main larger bottle, and the smaller, now regulated chamber that the valve sips from when hammer hits it in shot cycle. Thereby regulating the air as the gun uses is.

to father comment…any gauge that the needle doesn’t rest at 0 when it’s not under pressure is most likely faulty.

Are you talking about the white -w- black markings, incremental sleeve that Huma attaches to the regulator itself?

Mark, your post is a bit ambiguous. Do you have an unregulated Revere for which you have bought a Huma reg, or is it the factory Huma regulated rifle? If you are adding a reg, then after it is inserted into the cylinder, the pressure gauge will read the regulated pressure, not the cylinder pressure. If it is the factory regulated gun, then the Huma gauge should show the pressure in the regulated plenum, and the end gauge will continue to show cylinder pressure. In the latter, if there is pressure in the cylinder, then the reg gauge should indicate pressure also, up to its set point, above which it will not allow more air to enter, thus regulated. If it is a rifle to which you are adding a regulator, the gauge should show a reading if any air is in the cylinder, but only up to the reg set point. You cannot monitor the cylinder pressure above the set point, if it is the unregulated model to which you have added a reg.

Thanks for responses.

Gun is new, unused Huntsman Revere with HUMA factory installed.

With no air in main cylinder, Huma regulator gauge needle also indicates zero. That would be normal, correct?

Then, when air is pumped into the cylinder the Huma regulator gauge needle will also move to a preset level, reflecting air being pumped into main cylinder. Is that a correct understanding?

Thanks,

-Mark

Yes, go shooting, and enjoy!
