Huma regulator M3

Ordered a huma 1st stage bottle regulator to replace the fx regulator as I’m getting fluctuation per the gauge and chronograph readings. So far I only ordered the front reg as I have mixed feelings about the install but have read great things. Hoping my tune stays put after the install and not the 40-70fps drop in spread. Will only changing the front regulator have any effect on the rear stock fx regulator? Or should both be switched out as a set? Thanks in advance!

I have not installed the Huma front reg yet, but I have heard good things. It has a spread of only a few bar vs the 40-70 bar swing myself and others are experiencing with the stock front regulator. I have my factory reg set almost 100 bar above the second reg. The only thing the front reg is really doing for me is allowing 300 bar fills instead of 250. The Huma should allow you to set the reg only 20 or so bar above your second reg, reducing much of the burden on it and improving shot to shot consistency.

I don’t know as I am FAR from an expert but I don’t think fluctuations in the first reg would would cause a 40-70 fps variation if your second reg is doing its job. Do you watch the second reg ? How does it act? When you say 40-70 fps are you counting early shots taken after the gun has sat ? Does it eventually settle in after a certain number of shots and gain consistency? Sounds like possibly something else going on.

My m3 had the big spread swing after sitting and would take about 10 or so shots to get back to speeds. I saw the front reg gauge would start lower then creep back to set point after those shots as well. I just installed the huma this morning and still testing. So far the huma takes 1 shot and we’re back up to speeds. I can say the first shot is a lot closer to speed the the stock reg was doing. I’ll give the huma a while to break in a see how it’s doing

Update: Went and chronographed the M3 with the new huma front regulator and was surprised at the numbers. A very tight and consistent string. I found depending on where I shot at between the chrony I got different numbers but the string below was my best so far. 😁

I see this was a few months back. Any update on this? Is your first shot more consistent with the Huma regulator?
