FX Huma transfer port and pin probe

Hi.

What's your experience with changing the FX slug TP to Huma high flow v2? Permoncse increase, problems, etc. I'm planning to purchase one to shoot slug better.

The other thing is how to align the slug probe correctly. I usually just set the slug pin probe to its longest setting possible while making sure that I don't jam the magazine. But I'm not sure if that's the right way.

Permoncse increase will depend on your setup. I have tested several barrel lengths and Cals and get 10-20fps gain for each part. But on average you should expect a 20-25fps gain after installing the pin probe and transfer-port. That can really make a nice boost in fps that will allow you a slightly lower reg setting to achieve the same target velocity.

The FX factory usually puts some thread lock goo on the transfer-port but a little gentle heat breaks it down. I used an indirect heat style hot air blower on mine to prevent over heating the other metal parts or orings.

So it's a boost of about 20 fps above suing the regular fx slug TP?

Yeah you can count on it being at least that much of a gain for both upgrades total. But like I said that might be different in your setup depending on your barrel length and current tune etc. In my testing that was the low end of improvement, and it could be double that or more.

Do you notice any other difference after switching to Huma's TP?
With some pellets you can get some snags when feeding and might decrease accuracy. That didnt happen in any of my Huma ports but I know others have experienced the issue. Overall I think its a great upgrade and all of mine have the Huma port.

I have swapped some rifles over to the newer Huma high flow pellet style probe, for double duty with slugs and pellets. The pellets can also have feeding issues with the pin probe and go into the breech a little crooked. I did see a drop in fps but still better than the factory FX pellet probe. My dedicated slugger has the Huma pin probe and port for max fps, that is the setup I saw close to a 40fps gain.

Interesting. How do you set the pin probe length correctly?

That depends on what rifle you have. For an Impact and Huma pin probe there isnt really any adjustment. There are other brand pin probes that have adjustable pins like the FX version. Or if you have a Wildcat/Maverick you can adjust the cocking assembly a little bit to move the whole probe, but can run into magazine fitment issues.
