Hw 40 pca can't adjust sights enough

Hello everyone

I have a hw 40 pca which is fun little pistol. But i can't adjust rear sight enough down to be zeroed at 12 yards.I maxed out adjustment and i am still about one and a half inch low at that distance.

Is this comon with those?

I am also thinking of buying one of those compact red dots for it? Anyone has opinion on that?

I have put a red dot, a reflex and a scope on the Beeman P17 version of that pistol with good results. You can try rotating the barrel in the upper, 180 degrees to see if the poi changes, I have done that on the P17 versions of that. I also noted that different pellets can really alter poi on target.

Thanks mmcm13 i will try to do that if i can't find another solution.What is difference betwen reflex and red dot? Is it easier to shoot accurate with red dot?

Looks like rear sight needs to be adjusted up to raise the point of impact to me? Just be careful with the red dot as if the base is to long and it is a picatinny the front sight will interfere when trying to mount it..

Biohazardman you are probably right now that i thought about it.I will try that i have adjusted it folowing the manual but i maybe miss understand it.

I thought by that picture if i turn it clockwise my hits will go up.

Or does that mean if you are hitting high turn adjustment screw clockwise?

Diagram is a bit confusing to me. But in the end it does look right clockwise to go down Counterclockwise to go up.

They are quite accurate seems like I was often shooting like 5 to 7mm CTC at ten meters. I could often hit bottle caps at 20 meters plus. Back in the day when I had good eyes.

Seems like it liked some cheap Gamo matches and RWS hollow point pellets if memory serves. Probly liked the Meisterkugeln better but I am not sure.

Edit; I can only do 10-12mm groups at this time and boy is this thing hard to pump! I can barely do it with my screwed up arms. Ten shot group was 17mm I am done shooting this now. Zoraki is nice.

The red dot I have is a Sightron, it is a tube, no magnification (costs about 5x what the pistol did). I had really great luck with it, my eyes at my age are beyond iron sight years. The red dot made it a lot easier to shoot well. At 10-12 yds, with a favored pellet, I could put 5 pellets in a ragged hole, and using the adhesive dots, could hit center pretty easily, as could my son-in-law and his dad. We were all astonished at the accuracy of a $30 pistol. The reflex is a much smaller unit, and usually the battery lasts much longer in it. I find the red dot easier to shoot with than the reflex. There is an entry on the pyramyd air blog that shows the sight and adapter on it. I also have a 1.5-4x pistol scope I use on one (I have 4 of the P17s) that I can hit peanuts With at 17 yds if I am on my game. All of the sights are attached with picatinny adapters, either a rail (Sightron) or the small adapters that snap in the rings from Pyramyd. My pistols prefer H&N sport wad cutters, and JSB strattons. I converted one to .22 caliber with a barrel I got from Flying Dragon airguns, xisisco copy of the beeman with a .22 caliber barrel supplied with it.

I have it adjusted thanks to biohazardman.

Below are two 5 shoot groups.First one was adjusted verticaly and second also horizontaly. One is just over and other just under 1" at 12 yards. I am happy with that and the fact i am using cheap pellets.

Btw what kind of accuracy do you guys get with those pistols?







You talking about the Zoraki pistols? Target with and without scope. The HW40, Beeman P3 will do pretty much the same.

The P17s do better than they should considering the price. A few of them will rival HW40 and P3s but most fall short of that, but not by much, from what I have seen here and there over the years.

That Sightron red dot must be nice.About two years ago i had onother Hw40 with Hawke red dot but i wasn't satisfied with it.The dot was so large that it covered my targets at 10 y and i couldn't good accuracy because of that.I guess you get what you pay for. I never seen quallity red dot in person.Thanks for your reply.

High quality mini reflex sights is the way to go with pistols.....Tested for a good 5 years now on full bore firearms, they are proven to keep zero, are robust and do not alter the balance, or the weight of the pistol, being so small and low in weight. Big tube red dots, requiring scope mounts are now passe....had their day.

I would not think twice to fit one, even on a gun that has no rail like mine didnt..

The P17/HW40/Beeman2004 likes moderate weight domes. Air arms AA...Accupels...These little pneumatic pistols tend to be a bit more efficient with a bit more weight to the pellets, the opposite of the springer pistol...

Check the muzzle....they sometimes like a little re-crown using a Brass Jap dome head screw ran in your Dewalt with a bit of Autosol...

Shove a rubber washer, or some O rings along the outside of the barrel, within the upper housing....It kills barrel resonance...good guns..

I have used these for a cheap red dot. They are super small & light, they have a 3 moa dot with 4 levels of brightness. Can be had online for $30 to $35. It takes some effort to zero as the adjustments have a little play in them, but there are 2 lock down screws once it is adjusted, and they have performed great. Not overly blue looking through the lense, like some cheap red dots. Ali express store has California warehouse, last time I received my order in 7 days. (maybe just lucky)
