Finally got my HW 75 in today from Pyramid air. The first one never showed beyond shipping label created. This one only took Fed ex 1 1/2 days from Ohio to Texas, guess they were trying to make amends. It got here so late that dusk was falling and I did not have a chance to try it out. I'm working tomorrow morning so will have to wait until afternoon to give it a try. The trigger is absolutely fantastic but cocking is a bit of a chore, but I will get easier as I get more used to it. From all the pictures I saw I had assumed the barrel was the full length of the "slide" but the muzzle end seems about what looks like 3" back from the front of the "slide". I presume the actual rifled barrel is optimized fpr the power generated by the single stroke. Looking at it from the muzzle end it looks more like a .38 or .40 than a .177. It's a bit heavy but that should make it more stable for one hand shooting, May even give it a try with a red dot.

Congrats! Got mine today also. Cleaned the barrel (was usual factory gunky, relatively to what the patches picked up).

After that, shot about 30 rounds of H&N 5.25gr (lead-free) pellets through it. Chrono'd a consistent ~430fps.

Dead accurate at 7yds w/iron sights. Had to adjust the rear site waaay down; and 1 full revolution to the left.

Overall awesome pistol... smooth/consistent/well built/absolutely awesome trigger. True its slightly larger than a full size (powder burning) 1911 but roughly half the weight.

Good luck and have fun with it @jkingrph.

Yeah, I like that hammer, and especially the way you can dry fire it. If they could make one change it would be nice for the hammer to cock when you close the barrel when loading, but that would probably be rather complex.

I have a little 3moa Vortex Venom red dot sight I am going to try on it. That sight is small enough to mount well forward and leave plenty of room for my hand when closing the action.

One big advantage with the effort to operate the pump is that it is going to make me take my time and really learn to shoot better, make every shot count instead of getting into the mindset that there is another shot available quickly.

The muzzle void of the HW75 was originally intended for a shove in silencer, a request from Beeman to HW when it was first designed....actually long before the P1 was even thought of. However, this mock bore did not cast perfectly round enough and when they discovered the gun did not make the noise they imagined, it was dropped. Sadly, they designed the barrel length with this silencer fitting in mind, and so the barrel length for all HW pistols was now set in stone and since never been altered.

I say sadly, because this void depth (actual 1.8 inches) could have been filled up with barrel length to the true muzzle. I once back engineered a piece of OEM 1377 barrel, cutting off just ahead of the TP, machining the location groove and muzzle location, giving me an 8.5 inch barrel. This picked up a good 35 fps in my gun, which back then was already a 405fps gun stock. I may have been on the only shooter of a 440 fps HW75 in the world at that time.

Inversely, the P1 velocity actually went down slightly when i swapped this modded barrel into one just to try it.

With springer pistols, it is likely that maximum power is already achieved at about 6.5 inches after which power remains stable, or may drop slightly as the friction of the barrel takes over.
