HW/Weihrauch HW 98 & Custom Stocks

So. I have a newer HW 98 for which I purchased a Custom Stock. I received the stock and was going to switch them out. I found that the screw holding the existing stock on the HW 98 is really tight- perhaps loctited. Rather than strip the head I stopped. Now, I am looking for any advice available. Is this screw loctited? Do I need to heat it, prior to removal? Or, just give it a good twist with the right screwdriver. Regards.

I did the same with my 98. My stock screw was not loctited, I do not believe Weihrauch applies any thread locker to this screw. Definitely use a properly fitting screwdriver, it should break loose.

Like has been mentioned, use a properly fitting screwdriver.

If someone has used loctite on it at some point, a safe and easy way to heat the screw is to heat up a fairly large diameter pin punch or piece of steel rod with a propane torch. Once good and hot, grab it with a pair of pliers and hold the heated punch/rod against the screw head for 30 seconds or so, allowing the heat to transfer into the screw. You may have to do it a couple of times, but it works well without the risk of damaging your stock.

The most important thing was mentioned. Use the correct screwdriver. Hollow ground. Else damage will occur. Borrowed picture.
