HW100 questions

I got myself an HW100 in a PCP bundle deal a while back and haven't even shot it yet. Not sure how old it is but it is in great shape. I recently took it off the rack to start playing with it and figure it out to see how I like it. It is in .22 cal and I have seen all kinds of praise on this gun so I am excited to see what it can do. My plan is to set up one of my PCP's for some nighttime critters and seeing as how this one didn't have an optic on it already I would use this one and see how it goes. Ordered an ATN NV scope to try.
Now before I go and feed this thing all kinds of pellets to see what it likes I thought I would just ask to see if there is a common weight and style to start with that seems to be proven. I am also curious if anyone has tried slugs in this and how well they work? Seems there are all kinds of new slugs coming out and I haven't tried any of them yet but very curious as to how they compare. Does his thing have enough power for coyotes? Or will I be limited to rabbit size critters?
Somewhat new to the PCP scene and have never tuned one, but with the pile I acquired I am certainly jumping in full throttle. All of my experience in the past is with powder burners, cheap pumps and springers.

It apears to me that it is an old gun with a new stock. The early HW100 where 35Joule, the later ones 41Joule and the latest 50Joule.
They have changed the stock because that one is not as old and they put a shorter barrel on it.
You must chrono it to know how much power it haven.
I had a HW100 but was not pleased with its grouping.
Try the JSB 16 or 18gr and H&N Baracuda

Lovely looking gun. I have had a few all .177 Fantastic guns. Now i have the 110 and 44 pistol (110 action) equally fantastic.

There should be a date somewhere on the air cylinder. Yours is FAC level power, at around 26 fpe. I expect it would generate about 30 fpe with the longer rifle barrel, just a guess. They are excellent rifles and generally shoot great. Since it is a used gun, I would remove the barrel and clean it. If you are not familiar with the process, just unscrew the air cylinder and you will see the grub screw that attaches the barrel near the action. Most of my .22 rifles have shot the JSB 18 best, but the 16 is certainly worth trying too. Good luck, I think you will like it. As with most German rifles, it is not focused on fancy features and gimmicks, just a very solid, high-quality rifle.
I doubt it will shoot slugs well, in fact, the mag probably won't accommodate them, and single loading in that small clearance is tricky. But on the plus side, it's one of the best magazine systems made. Personally, I would not consider a 26 fpe pellet adequate for coyotes. I'm sure that they have been killed with less, but I would want a lot more power.

Not sure yet. New warranty replacement chrono just showed up and I haven't mounted an optic to it yet. Still debating on which gun I'm going to steal one from then replace that with a NV scope. But there are quite a few vids on Youtube with people loving this gun and having great success.

july of 2018, it's not that old, I'd start with JSB 18's and Crosman Domes or Hollow points, mine loves both, I have mine tuned for 780 fps, you get about 38-42 shots per fill and accuracy is spot on, make sure you put a few drops of Silicone oil inside the probe when you fill it for the first time, to lube the fill port valve, then lube it every 5-10 fills, 5 drops of Silicone oil, the gun is fairly easy to work on, just make sure you have very good Quality Hex Tools to work on it.

I have both a.177 and a.22, both shoot great. At 14 fpe the.177 gets right at 140 shots with 8.64 gr pellets at 850fps, and really accurate.
The.22 is tuned a bit hotter at 21fpe 14.3 Crosman at 810fps, also a one hole with these cheap pellets.
Amazing guns, easy to tune, stellar trigger, and my only drawback is weight on 600mm barrel versions, but not out of reason.
