HW/Weihrauch HW30 50 yd Bench

OK so here's a quick page from 40 yards today, it was breezy on and off and the groups show it. I managed two decent groups, all shot with the 7.33's. I will try again when I can catch a no wind
period. The reticle in the Hawke Vantage covers these 1/4" red dots, so that makes it interesting.😂View attachment 523230

Thanks for sharing! what a great way to spend some time on Christmas! Merry Christmas!

Shooting my FWB 300 today but my fingers got cold and fumbled with the loading . went to the HW97 and everything went well but still got cold fingers for .177 pellets .
The FWB 300 loading port is a rather vertical affair meaning you must drop your fingers and the pellet straight down into the gun . Summertime is fine ,cold fingers are not .

What temps are you shooting in? I’ve wondered if people are shooting in subzero temps. I have been cutting it off at freezing here and found it not too bad but the fingers do get numb. I found some really thin gloves (one size fits all) that are like $1.50 a pair. I can wear them and load my 30S although I suspect I’ll have trouble loading my new 97k which I hope to get next week. But they work pretty good.

Temperature was 43 but wind chill was 37

Im running the A/C here since late Christmas day. Wasp, mosquitos, and bugs are out stretching their wings.
my house runs on a heat pump with propane assist below 34 degrees and auto thermostat, 74 day and 68 night , haven't touched it in years . 24/7/365 .

I don’t know any other Springer shooters and in particular any HW30 shooters other than on forums. I would like comments from any HW30/R7 owners that shoot 50 yard bench … Please tell me if these are decent groups at 50 yards out of a HW30.
I’m a little late to this party, but I thought I would share that I think your groups are great and appreciate your post/sharing. It has been a while since I shot my R7 - I will have to see if I can find some old groups. The longest I can remember shooting was around 35 yards, and if I remember correctly, my groups were around 1” or so; I think yours are impressive at 50 yards.

Then again, I don’t have great eyesight, I don’t have a proper bench and to be honest, with my R7, I would rather plink.

The HW30/R7 is a fun airgun and it will be interesting to see if you tighten up your groups with more time / practice.

Thank you so much for the encouraging words JCalvert. I agree it is a superb gun for plinking! I am really enjoying this gun. And if you find any of your old groups, please post them. I really like seeing others and just how accurate others shoot the R7/HW30!

I shot a little video of the HW30 from the bench at 75 yards, if you like.

Little 30 still has some bite left, all the way out to 75 yards. Nice shot.
I never have set up a point of aim scope for 75y on it. Even my compensating rings which are set for the 95 and 97, don't allow zero at 75y on the 30, and I don't want to reset them. So I'm stuck using holdover.

Wow! Great shooting! I’m certain you nicked it on your second shot. you said you are using mildots at that range, what yardage are you zeroed at? I love your range! What is the coldest temps you shoot at? Thanks for sharing, you kick ass with that little 30!
It is zeroed at 30 yards. The scope has an awful retical. I'll send a pic of the scope view and aim/hit points. The range is 75-yards.
In order to use the mildots I had to turn the scopes zoom down to 4X, then ease it back up until the point of impact is on top of the bottom post.

Thanks
On the video I switched to a lighter pellet (H&N ftt's) that didn't have as much fall as the 13.79's that allowed me a little more zoom, using the same sighting method.
Using the 13.79's it was set a little over 4X, and at that zoom the rectical pretty much covers a small target.

that‘s honestly amazing shooting with that scope. That‘s equivalent to a like 500 yard centerfire shot.
