I think many people (myself included) have a difficult time with change. Many have commented negatively on the loss of the finger groove on the new checkered 35. How much the grooves added for consistency with hold placement. Yet the most accurate model 55 only had the grooves on the basic standard model. Most prefer the Match or Tyrolean version which has a checkered forearm. You would think if the grooves add so much they would surely be on the Match and Tyro. ???
Forgive me for trolling old threads on a Saturday morning, LOL...

The oldest HW 55's actually did have finger grooves on the more deluxe models...here is a Tyro from about 1956:

Just speculation on my part, but perhaps it's that in later days, match shooters came more to rest the fore end on top of the front hand, instead of grasping the sides. For many years the HW 55 thus had a generous patch of checkering underneath, though it shrank over time.

I love all my Weihrauch’s. Have or had almost every model they have produced over the past 40 years. My favorite if I had to pick would be the HW55. The 50 is basically the 55 without the build quality and locking lever. The 50 is also, arguably, one if not the most popular model (barrel cocker) still made. The 35 is more like the 55 in the “build quality” and “locking lever” department. It is heavier do to its larger receiver diameter and almost over built, hence “build quality” design. It has nearly an identical velocity and cocking effort. The 35 is a bit more expensive but really considering the upgrades, it seems to be the bargain of the Weihrauch lineup or any springer for that matter. For traditional lovers like me the 35’s stock configuration is more classic than the new 50 is. Don’t know what Weihrauch is thinking with their new stock designs. The 35 can also be had in a checkered Walnut model for very little more. Any newbies to this arena should give the 35 a good look. IMHO.View attachment 274496 Krale has the HW50 for around $285. $60 more gets the HW35 and another $60 gets the HW35E “Walnut”.
Well kind of a no brainer! For me any way. 😃

Yeah guys,
I just purchased both the HW35E and HW50 yesterday from Krale🌈.
I‘ll likely sell the same two guns in silver as I prefer standard bluing.
The silver or chrome like finish is nice, but a little to “showy“ for me.
Both .177 caliber … hoping I win the walnut stock lottery.

Guns arriving from Krale Wednesday - 2 3/4 days after being ordered …. Just amazing service relative to any American distributor🌈.

However, each gun has gone up $125+ since the last time ordered.
The flip side to that is Weihrauch airgun prices have gone up much less than the CPI for most products over the last 40 years ….. especially when purchased from Krale.

I'm with you, not a big van of silver guns. I have two, Ruger 10/22 rifles, one a totally custom build that I put together using on sale parts, a stainless Green Mountain barrel, and a Fajen stock I got from Midway, a nice walnut with shadow outline cheekpece, case hardened checkered Neider buttplate, pistol grip cap and inlaid sling swivels, along with an ebony foreend tip. The other is simply a 10/22 Manlicher stock with Stainless metal. Both look good, but I still prefer blue steel and walnut.

My guns arrived today from Krale.
Not packaged as well as they used to do ........... at all. Two gun stuffed in a box with some plastic bags with air.

The HW35E has a broken stock at the pistol grip.
Almost seem like someone cocked it and pulled the trigger w/o returning/locking the barrel?

I have requested Krale send me another stock ..................

Man, that stinks. I had a 97K show up with many stock finishing issues from Krale. I sent numerous emails but couldn't get support other than mailing it all back which was 4 times as expensive as the shipping was here. Not long after that I bought an HW98 from AoA. Decided a "deal"wasn't always a good deal.

Im really sorry to hear about the damage. That totally sucks. There's a few possibilities. First the most obvious the gun wasn't packaged well enough.

Second it's a deliberate breakage by an anti gun person at the carrier. There's been a few extra breakages of rifle sized boxes across all carriers.

Third customs broke it. I've had customs open and poorly repack a Krale box before. I know of people getting cocked guns because customs didn't know how to uncock them.

It's all a shame. I've ordered at three Weihrauchs from Krale without issues. The last was my wifes HW30 IIRC in 2021. I will add I've heard of even Laminate stocks broken at the wrist come from AOA. I believe that has to have been a deliberate breakage.

When shipping other people's rifles back and forth I always recommend removing the stock to shorten the box. This saves big money on shipping and doesn't look like a rifle anymore. I have full length rifles shipped to my house all the time. There's always a rifle comment attached during delivery. Boxes that look like rifles are extra prone to damage due to political reasons.

Of the THREE HW-35's I owned a few years back, sold off 2 keeping the apple of my eye .... The Nickel Finish in Walnut !!!
It too was a freight damaged stock broken at the wrist. Some laminating epoxy and correct clamping technique you hardly know it was previously in 2 pieces.

That "Cracked" stock can be saved !!

Yeah Scott,
I plan to do that too, but wanting to get a new one as the broken one its junk to them anyway.
PS: I can see the crack on your gun, but it's barely noticeable;).
