HW35E vs HW77 Long

I purchased the HW77 after trying my friends HW97K. The extra four inches on the cocking arm make it very easy to cock. I shoot off the bench with it and find the extra weight helps tone down the recoil. I have the Vortek kit installed and she is pushing 19 fpe. Very nice firing cycle. I can hit dime sized spinners if the wind is not too crazy at 50 yards all day long.

Thanks Maxtrouble,
That is good information. You must be using a scope. What caliber are you shooting?

I shot both these this after noon for 2 1/2 hours. 039F870F-8F86-486E-A64B-FF601285746E.jpeg The 77 is .22 the 77K is .25. I shoot off a Caldwell Stable Table . Both rifles are deadly accurate. I was stacking nice groups with both at 35 yd. I like the looks of the K model better and easier to carry as well. I usually carry 2 rifles in and out. I have the 85’5 and 90’s which have the longer barrels, which does make cocking easier, no bother using and all dirty accurate. My guns have no modifications yet. I use scopes. When I get new glasses that may change.
For me I would take what ever is available while you can get it. They are Weihrauch’s, can’t go wrong with either IMO. Crow

Thanks for the photo Crow. The K model does look well balanced compared to the Long. I have seen some photos that make the K barrel look to short. Guns are girls. Gotta have a nice figure! (I know, I just got up and am not woke yet ;-)

Thanks Ron,

I did read the new comb height now was the same as the 97. I have not heard of the stock comb being to high for some people using open sights. Makes sense though.

I guess the thought of having the most accurate Weihrauch was my driving force to own the 77 platform. I just don't care for the look of the 97. Although I have not seen one in person.

I was trying to find out who had the long version of the 77 and what they liked about it. Not many guys seem to have anything good to say other then having a longer sight radius. Krale has the long version in a .177 in stock. I almost pulled the card out but thought I would get some opinions on the gun. I will wait for the K to come back in stock.

Going back to the bunker now.
Cheers
Yep, that seems to be the consensus, to heavy for offhand or field work.

I have 2 77s both in 177, one scoped one with factory sights. I’m 60 and have no problem squirrel hunting with either. Great rifles and they are 2 of my favorites out of many of my springers, if you’re strength and health is good you will be happy with a 77. But I like all of air guns. lol

Yep, I must like airguns too. I have four now. I've been shooting my two new springers almost every day for the last few months even if it's just stepping of the porch for an offhand shot or two at spinner or a commie pop can. I can feel my shoulders getting stronger too. LOL

You know, the M1 Garand rifle weighed about 11.25 pounds fully loaded. If the WWII soldiers could carry one with field pack full of ammo everyday, I could probably hunt with a HW77 long barrel for an hour or two! I'm 66 years young.

Thanks for your info "43"

Just came in and was shooting my 77 special edition .177. Has the long barrel. I like to remove the iron sights and I don’t think you can remove the front sight on the 77. View attachment 280496. This gun is a laser. View attachment 280497. 30 yds. 5 shots.
Wouldn’t be my first choice to carry, but it would certainly work. Excellent gun. Crow

The front sight blade on the 77/77K is removable, the screw to do so is plainly visible on the top. And underneath is a dovetail that will fit the standard Weihrauch front globe from their other guns.

Nice looking gun. I'm a sucker for the green laminates.

Awesome Crow!! Nice shooting.

I couldn't stand it and got up early this morning ordered a Beech 77 Long from Krale. The wife thinks the wheels have come off the tracks. LOL It will be here Friday night.

Hopefully the addiction will subside with this one. In two months I have bought the 50, 35 and 77. Jeeze these are fun to shoot.

What pellet does it like?

Cheers

I like the muzzle end so much better on yours with the weights. Looks good.
Is that custom?
How does cocking arm hold?
That’s my only complaint of my 77’s, is the looks of the muzzle ends. Crow
Thanks. My green gun is a Special Edition 97 from Europe. It's just a 97 in a 77 green laminate stock. I always liked the green stock but liked the looks of the 97 action more. When I seen this package on the Mundilar website I instantly added it to my order. It wasn't cheap but it was worth it to me. It's got the factory moderator and cocking aid I got off Ebay.
