This review is on the HW50S 22cal with the new Vortek SHO tune kit with piston seal. I really wasn't much interested in the HW50S 22cal until I saw the review on AEAC of the HW95 with H&N non-lead pellets. Then I saw where Tom at Vortek had just came out with this SHO kit for the HW50S. Below are the Results. I will say the cocking effort went up from the standard tume kit offers, plus has a little bit of recoil over the standard tune. It doesn't effect accuracy, but if one likes their springers smooth and easy to cock, you might consider going another route. I put Tom's original tune kit in an HW50S several yeas ago when it came out and really liked it, which is what I am comparing it to.
The reason I put of the single target is that this gun is sighted in with the Predator GTO and the one I have chosen to use with this gun.
Below are the targets at 25 yards and the velocity at the muzzle not at 25 yards. These velocities are from a 5 shot average.
H&N FT Green 9.57 grains at 851fps for (15.39 foot pounds)
Predator GTO 11.75 grains at 770 fps for (15.47 foot pounds)
H&N Baracuda Green 12.96 grains at 720 fps for (15.3 foot pounds)
H&N FTT 14.66 (5.53) grains at 630 fps for (12.93 foot pounds)
HNY FTT 14.66 (5.54) grains at 618 fps for (12.45 foot pounds)
H&N FTT 14.66 (5.55) grains at 623 fps for (12.63 foot pounds)
Benjamin 14.3 grain domes at 635 fps for (12.8 foot pounds)
JSB Hades 15.89 grains at 617 fps for (13.44 foot pounds)
JSB (5.53) 15.89 grains at 605 fps for (12.91 foot pounds)
The only shot that was pulled was the Baracuda Green on the top far right which hit low, everything else should represent the gun and not me.
The H&N 5.53 FTT was the smallest group at .24 inches
This bottom pic show you what 1 MOA looks like in comparison to the target.
