Hw50S front globe

Have you ever done this? This morning I wanted to do some plinking as I’ve been painting for the last two weeks☹️ Anyway I open my safe and decided on my Hw50s. I grabbed it by the front globe and lifted it out of the safe, as this was happening the globe decided to slip off the barrel, the rifle fell partially back into the safe causing a small chip in the stock and scaring the crap out of me.
After calming down the rifle behaved as nothing had happened. First 4 shots one mil dot high at 25 metres then the rest spot on.

A month or two ago I had the front globe sight on my HW50s fly off into the grass somewhere into the grass when I cocked it, almost had a heart attack. I always double check the front globe sight screw now. Also got a nick on my stock out of the blue. First scratch on the new wood and it was painful. Don't know how it happened but that's just what happens I guess.

I installed a Weihrauch moderator onto my HW50S, a process that required the temporary removal of the front sight globe assembly. After removing and re-installing the sight assembly I can easily see how the assembly could come off unexpectedly, if the attachment hardware is not sufficiently engaged. Much like the stock screws that require occasional tightness checking, the front sight globe could use an occasional inspection to ensure it's properly attached.

Bummer about the sight coming off and the resulting stock damage, but thanks for posting the pics & damage report as it serves as a learning point for the rest of us, well at least those of us that are still learning! :)

Well , it just dont walk up the dovetail anymore in a handful of shots. Now pretty much moves when i decide to move it. That globe walking shooting irons was like if you were shooting a bad scope . That must be some of that german engineering.. maybe if they figured out how to keep a screw tight they may of won the war..lol

Put a gun sock or soft case on your gun so it will be safe in your safe. Why do so many guns have "safe marks"? Must not be very safe in there.
I made a pressed on Delrin brake. The raised sight dovetails hold it on. No screws. I make my own brakes.
