I am more of a collector than a shooter. I have found the HW70 on target. Trigger is crisp, iron sights are micro adjustable and clear, recoil is predictable I like it. Crosman HP or better yet QYS pellets. The match grade pellets tighten up my groups a bit. I have started using them in several non-match grade airguns.
Now I have to buy a Black arrow version so I can attach a scope. Eyesight is limited so if the airgun is used often enough, then a scope is a must have item. I have a few other recoiless AGs that could be fired instead of the HW70 but I really like it. My recoiless AGs also includes: HW75, Hy-score 819 [Diana 10], Hy-score 827 [Diana 6M], and Hy-score 816 [Diana model 6]

FYI, you can put weight in the handle, bbs etc.

Thanks .20calguy, for an air pistol that is Not recoiless HW70 is one of the best. I know a lot of the airgunners are shooting power-house PCPs like the GK1 but I like the more tame vintage airguns. Definitely Need a Black Arrow my eyes don t do the open sights so well. Funny I avoided buying one of these for years because I thought they were too big now after shooting it, I think the grip is rather small.

You guys are inspiring me. Mine needs a some serious work. The sleeve is likely scratched from vandalism by known, but no one's talking, perps.
I have the parts, I just need to get it done. 👍

I have the standard HW70 and the Black Arrow. Both have great ergonomics and excellent triggers. I have to send the BA back to AoA, again. Mine keeps breaking either the main spring or the seer. It is a shame. I really like both models. They are the pistol equivalent of an HW30. Everyone should have one for backyard plinking. The Black Star is a hand cannon compared to the HW70 platform.

How well can you shoot the HW45 black star?
Is it hard to group with the recoil? I've been eyeing the bronze star for awhile, probably just a pipe dream..lol.

They are a little tricky to shoot accurately. With a little practice I can hit a two inch target at 20 yards. It is a 6 fpe springer so there is a lot of stuff moving and shaking going on once you pull the trigger. I rest my wrists on bags so the pistol can do what it wants to do. Great on soup cans. Paper, not so much.

I guess one could tune it down some, not sure how much difference it would make.

That would ruin the pistol! Weihrauch set it up that way. It is a very fun can smacker. I have other pistols more accurate but less fun to shoot. When you shoot an HW45 you know it! The pistol has two power settings. A low fpe and high fpe power selected at the time of cocking the pistol. I have never bothered withe the low fpe setting, I want a hand cannon! The pistol is not for everyone but it is very fun to shoot and very satisfying when you hit a soup can. Try one, you might like it!

Maybe one day I'll get the bronze star. I'm done buying for a "little" while..lol. Wonder which would be funner a .177 or a two two.🤔
