HW75

I'm now considering the HW75 as opposed to the P1. Are there any members who have or had both? Other than the difference in velocity are there any other advantages or disadvantages over one from the other? I read that they have two different powerplants and that the HW75 is recoil-less. Can someone explain that aspect?

I've had multiples of each. The 75 shoots rings around the P-1 in every way but power. I've written several times that recoiling spring-piston pistols are THE most difficult of all guns to shoot, impossible to shoot WELL in human hands, and I stand by those statements. The 75 is a gem.

the P1-HW45 is a spring powered gun and it cocks with a motion to the front as you open and that makes it easier to cock

has felt recoil and can be harder to shoot for some, they come in full grip frame that can take any 1911 grips, from just panels to target grips from say Herrett

of course the HW45 come in a half grip frame in there special model and of course as stated the HW45 has more power

the HW75 is a single stroke pneumatic and it compresses air as you close the top half of the pistol and this makes it a little hard but the HW75 is easy to cock vs a P17

there is no felt recoil in the HW75

the grip frame on the 75 is a half grip frame and takes only the grip that come with it but you would find they have a nice feel in the hand

both pistols are the same size and weight gave or take

so with no recoil the 75 can be easier to get on target but that is up to the shooter with both pistols

one thing you can do with the HW45 is change out the barrels to .20 and .22 if you buy the .177, it take some doing but that's another story

the HW75 came in the old Beeman days with a full grip frame and was a P2 and it seems Beeman would do a half frame mod to take half grip frame grips

Thank you for the good information guys. I think I might go with the 75. It'll be similar to shooting my alecto but without the multiple pumps. I've never owned a Weihrauch gun, I'm looking forward to it.

and the trigger on the HW are very good but so is the Alecto

That it is. I have a red dot on my Alecto... it's a real tac driver

I have an HW75 (.177) and an HW45 (.22). As above, the 45 is easier to cock and I prefer shooting it to the 75. It’s not as accurate but still not bad after some practice. I believe the 45 in .22 is smoother than the .177. 
Both are well built and either is a good choice.

Manxman you are right about how the .22 HW45

I have all the barrels for the HW45 and did a swap and test and the .22 is a pleasure to shoot

as the pellet going up in size the felt recoil diminishes, the .20 is much nicer then the .177 but they are fine to shoot

I really like my HW75, it’s not powerful like the Alecto but it’s very accurate. They just stack pellets at 15 yards. As silly as it is, l like to mount a bug buster scope on it and shoot flys and yellow jackets. They are very well made with excellent triggers like already mentioned. And they have a really nice sound as you cock the hammer, a super fun pistol to spend time with.

Well the day arrived... I received my HW75. All I can say is everything they say about it is true, what a great pistol. This one will keep me content for quite awhile.

Have fun with the little gem! Don’t you just love the sound when you cock the hammer? Mine lives in the shop and I shoot out the door while my plasma cam is working. I’m a lucky guy at work
