HW77K or HW97K or ? Asking The Springer Guru's Opinion

I am looking at a springer for the collection.

I have done a ton of reading and narrowed the choice down to these 2 guns.

I am looking for " real world " experience and info between the 2. Looking for the little things that usually don't get mentioned, we all know they are really good guns as a general rule.

This will be in .177

If there is a better gun out there please don't be shy, i am open to higher end as well if the gun is worth the money....

My basic criteria:
Reliability
Accuracy ( no more than 40-50 yards )
Parts Availability if needed. ( Factory and Aftermarket )
I am a bit of a trigger snob, so a Better than average trigger
I am a Lefty, so some guns are out right out of the gate

They're essentially the exact same gun these days except the 77K has iron sights. I have 2x 97Ks. One in .177 tuned down to 10.5fpe and one in .22 tuned to 17fpe. Both are extremely accurate and well balanced guns.

Lefty springer guy. What are you going to do with this springer? Shoot it off bags or go out pesting with it? If shooting off bags or at the range, the beech stock 97k will be a pain to cock after 200 shots and weighs about 11 lbs with a scope. For basically the same weight, the 77 beech is easier to cock. I purchased a HW77 after cocking a HW97k. I shoot it off bags primarily. Very accurate, has a vortek kit pushing 17 fpe.

The HW95 Luxus has the ambidextrous stock and the same power plant as the HW77 but it weighs about 8 lbs. My HW95 is stock, about 14 fpe and it is a very smooth machine. Hitting quarters at 50 yards. I mainly shoot it off bags but if I had to carry one, it would be the HW95.

This will be primarily off bags on the bench.

I have plenty of pcp hunters, as well as bench guns

I have come full circle, I guess, Started out many years ago with an HW30s, I didn't have a clue what the hell i was doing back then .. Lol
Then i went ass deep into PCP's, learned a LOT, now i'm ready to go back to a springer for the " challenge " more than anything

I do appreciate the info, i didn't take the cocking into account as there is not many telling that part in the reviews.

As stated this doesn't have to be a Weihrauch, i just don't know where to find a Feinwerkbau or Walther ?

I did PCPs first and then went to springers for the challenge. I picked up a Weihrauch 77 first. Then a HW30, quickly followed by an HW50. Purchased the last HW95 in the world next. I found a hell of a deal on a factory walnut lefty TX200. Springers are like Lays Potato Chips, "Can't have just one!"

Then I found Custom Stocks UK and stuff got serious. Three custom stocks later, I am eyeballing a HW98 if they ever make them again! Welcome to the Springer Rabbit Hole!

I have all of the rifles mentioned. I have a 77 full length that shoots nearly one hole at 25 yards, and a 97 in .177,.22,and .20. They are all terrific. All have been tuned utilizing Vortek kits. If I could only have one it would be a 97.

You can’t go wrong with either choice. I have a few of both. They have the same power plant. 2 of my 77’s have the longer barrel, easier to cock. As far as looks go, I like the 97, I’m a sucker for barrel weights, but you sacrifice iron sights. Just about any Weihrauch choice would probably work. Good luck Crow

I have a 77k in .177 and a 97k in .22, the decision between both will be iron sights or muzzle attachments. The 97k is better if wanting to add a moderator, 77k has the advantage if not wanting to use a scope and no plans of a moderator. You can still put sights on the 97k but it won't be easy or cheap, (diopters).
