Yeah, I really appreciate JM's sticking to classic lines with gun stocks - a subtle, pistol cap at the most. Otherwise, they look too ornate or busy.

Nobody can fill Jim Maccari's shoes .... he's done too much, his expertise cannot be duplicated - Just like George .
Nobody can express emotions like Mr. Jones did .......... he had a very vulnerable sounding tone.

I also have one of his stocks for my 50 and also bought it before I had the rifle. Lol what did he suggest to you to do to it? I asked him about some more oil and he implied it wasn't a good idea.

Jim didn't suggest anything, he likely would've felt insulted -> but I sanded all the finish off and re-countered the pistol grip and forearm (keeping the checkering covered). Then used a satin poly spray. His finish still left some scratches and my hands are small, so they now fit better.

I'm going to sand in some Minwax Antique oil. The pores could be filled a little more. Something that can easily be repaired although I very rarely ever scratch my guns.
