HW97 or TX200 ?

There is no best only opinions!
Each have their advantages/disadvantages;
TX- glided piston, walnut stock option, easier to work on if needed/wanted, small/one sided breech opening, noisy & cumbersome anti beartrap, only one stock design, high price
97- not glided, no walnut stock option, large breech opening, no anti bear trap issues, numerous stock options (synthetic, thumbhole, laminate), blue or "stainless look", less expensive.

Neither decisively more accurate than the other

For field target piston hunter class, many shoot the TX200. Both will be competitive in field target. I have both. I like the working on my TX200HC. It is far easier to maintain, tune, disassemble and reassemble with only two tools required. Although the HW97K can shoot just as good, I hate taking it apart since you need a large wrench and a hammer plus other tools. You can save a lot if you buy the HW97K from Krale.

I don’t own a TX200 but have a couple of HW97s that I use in HFT(US) and I’ve taken them apart enough to be comfortable doing so. The mainsprings have enough preload to require using my homemade spring compressor. The only part of the reassembly that I dread is getting the trigger block lined up perfectly while under spring pressure to screw it back into the receiver. Makes me think that the +1200fpe springs are not worth the hassle but both guns are a joy to shoot and far more accurate than I am. Uj

The dimensions in the powerplant of the 77/97 make for better shooting guns in my experience. And they don't have the cheesy sintered cocking shoe and the lockup issues they can cause. The TX also has that aggravating anti-beartrap ratchet that drives me nuts.

I've had two or three TX200s now and won't wish for another. They shot accurately, but all had lockup issues at one time or another, and the shot cycle was never as nice as on the 77/97s. They are prettier, but the bluing doesn't hold up as well as the Weihrauch guns.
