Tuning HW97KT got a makeover

A little bit of work over the last few days on the 97. Stripped, sanded, carved a groove to make thumb up shooting a little more comfortable. Finished with boiled linseed oil. Pretty happy for my 1st time refinishing a stock.

Very nice....may I ask how you removed the old finnish, especially in the checkering area?

I used “Klean strip premium stripper”. Recommended by a carpenter I know who does a lot of furniture work. Used a steel bristle brush on the grips. Very soft pressure. The grips took 8 coats of the stripper, the rest of the rifle took only 3.
