Hi all new to the group, so i have been gifted a hw98 in .177. When i cock it sometimes the cocking arm drops out or just jumps and then dosent cock. What is likely to be wrong with it?
Yep. Used rifle sounds like? Could be someone de-burred the shoe a little too much. The HW95/98 are wonderful guns. You’ll enjoy it when you get it fixed.Well being hw them parts if bad ( arm or shoe) are generally available parts .
Id almost suspect the shoe for the main culprit..
Anyway as long as the reciver tube if not goofed your in good shape id think.
True , but unless you find old stock or a guy who has the old your only getting the new style.. ( for what i see).If it's older than say 2012 your cocking shoe won't look like the one these guys are posting. Just a heads up. But the early types almost never caused any issues.
The new sintered shoes can crack, most often when the gun is fired without the barrel being closed all the way, such as when decocking it.
Whatever it is, pulling the stock will likely reveal it fairly easily.
I guess thats not part of that bill of rights above ?..Yehh enit. It should be sub 12 bit dont think it is, go going to strip it and get a chrony and test it before i take it out as here in the uk you need a firearms licence to own and rifle above 12. Not worth risking it with a prison stint
Ya, that arh spring aint bad at all.. just wonder ehat shipping to the UK would be vs a uk local spring like tinbumb's kit..FWIW my 2020 HW95L .22 cocking cycle is absolutely soundless until the piston latches into the trigger. This is after an ARH kit + GPL-205 lube & 8K shots.
