HW/Weihrauch HW99....

Is yet another Weihrauch I never see on this forum or being talked about much, maybe I never listened..lol. Anybody have them, and love them?

It's the very same rifle called the "HW 50" here, and pretty much everywhere else except the UK.

"HW 99" was actually its initial name everywhere when introduced in the late 1990's, but Weihrauch chose to re-name it in honor of the original, similarly-sized, HW 50 which was going out of production at the same time after a 45+ year run.

There's probably a good reason the 99 didn't also become the 50 for our Brit friends...but I don't know what it is!

That's interesting. Folks often complain about the 50's cocking effort, so even a little extra length might help!

Dumb question, does the 50 use the HW's usual 15mm diameter barrel, or is it a little heavier, and is the UK 99 the same?
The American 50 is 15mm diameter. I'd suspect the 99 is too.. Both use a thinner breech block than the 16mm barrels

Hi friend ! I have one in .177 with a lube tune , it is perfect for my 25 to 50 yards range , with scope of course . It shoots better than I do ! 🤔
