I am the oddball... I want FFP scope with at least 30+ zoom and 10 yards focus/parallax

I have an Aim Sports Alpha 6 4.5-27x50 SFP on my Fortitude .177 and nearly always have it at the max, 27x, zoom. Even as close as 10 yards.

I have an Athlon Argos Gen1 8-34x56 FFP on my Akela .177 and nearly always have it at the max, 34x, zoom. Even as close as 15 yards.

When lighting conditions and time allow, I always prefer to take my shots, even at very close range, at max zoom.

I am the oddball and I know it
. However, I would like to hear from you folks.

What is available in FFP that has at least 30+ max zoom and 10 yards to infinity focus/parallax.

Yes, price IS an object, but if the glass is good, and it can hold zero, that is all I need. I use holdover and don't intend to click for range.

Price range is "cheap". (smile)

Under $500, preferably MUCH less than that.

Thanks!

All my best!

With my centerfire and rimfire guns I live at max magnification. (Or I’ve never spent enough money to have more magnification than is useful)

With my airguns I hang out in the upper end except for my hunter field target gun, which isn’t allowed to do that. So I’m a little bit odd myself. My other oddity is shooting both right and left handed.

Well I must be an oddball as well, l really enjoy shooting with high magnification.
It helps me to see how much movement there is with the crosshairs.
I can see my heartbeat moving the crosshairs up and down on the target and I try to time the shot to go when the crosshairs are not moving.
I prefer second focal plane scopes because the crosshairs remain fine when changing magnification, I can see more of the bullseye.
And I’m not smart enough to be able to use the crosshairs on a first focal plane scope to judge range lol!
I’ll be watching this thread to learn what other folks are using.

@BackStop Vector Continental on a helluva sale.

Thanks! That is the type of response I was looking for!

Do you know anything about these scopes?

Thanks again!

p.s. Well, you missed the part about "CHEAP"... lol!

"Under $500, preferably MUCH less than that."

@BackStop That’s a rather reasonable price. From what I’ve seen FFPs tend to cost more than SFPs. Yes, have one on my Bulldog M357. I’ve seen two sales where it fit your budget, but the scopes sell out in under an hour.
Thanks in any case. I will probably never get in on any sales like that...

Thanks again!

p.s.

When I followed the link you provided it would cost me over $800... about $832 I think... out of my budget. Although the Athlon Argos Gen2 still only focuses down to 15 yards, it may still be my best bet unless someone else has a better idea in my price range.

@BackStop That link was for informational purposes. It was the first one that popped up. They were going for $700-$800 on the manufacture’s site last week for Black Friday. A link was posted in the “Black Friday Deals” thread. Now it’s back up to over $900.

The Sentinel 10-40 looks cheap and has a max magnification that should suit you, but it appears to be a SFP scope for around $300.

Thanks to all who replied. Even those who suggested scopes that did not fit what I am looking for.

Turns out that the gun, DAR .177 Gen2, that I was going to put the new scope on simply doesn't provide me the accuracy/precision I require to spend the money on a new scope.

I tried a Leupold 3-9x33 EFR and it has too little power for my tastes/needs. So, I put the SWFA 20x fixed on it and as long as the lighting is PERFECT, that scope has let me test the gun and realize that I will either have to do a LOT of work to get consistent MOA, let alone sub-MOA with this POS, or simply write this gun off as part of my "learning" experience.

There is no reason for me to spend ANY money on a scope when the gun can't do at least MOA out to ~50 yards at least.

Thanks again for all of your replies!

If and when I buy another scope it WILL have to be FFP, focus/parallax down to 10 yards, hold zero, have good glass and if I am lucky... have repeatability with the turrets so I can experiment/play with using clicks for range instead of holdover.

Thanks again!

All my best!
