I dont trust you. (When buying in classified)

Ok. So I listed a gun on classified for xxx amount. It's over $1000 of course. I got a pm by a buyer saying they want to buy my gun for the asking price. I offered free shipping and I will pay the pp fees. All buyer have to do is pay the asking price which he agrees to. Then he later said he don't trust me sending the money. Like wtf. I am a member since 2019. He only join may 2024. So who don't trust who here? Lmao. I am looking for advice. How do you guys sell guns over $1000 in here? Since we all strangers no one trust anyone lol. Buyers don't trust seller sending money, seller don't trust buyer they might do charged back saying they didn't get item or item wasn't what they wanted. How do you go about dealing with this?

It's really a gamble you take. Is there any extra information you can give us about this interaction? Depending on how sketched out they are, if it seems like the transaction is gonna be hassle, I just won't sell them the gun.

I've done more transactions on here than my feedback shows, (multiple trades with the same person) but they've all been good. Come to a mutual agreement where you both are happy/content and move forward. Be as honest as you can as informative as you can and as helpful as you can. This goes for buyers , sellers and traders.

It being a matter of trust.See how active they've been, There are members who have joined maybe 1-2 months ago , but have plenty of posts and are very active.

Well it's not me not trusting him. He messaged me saying he want to buy my gun for the asking price. Then say he won't send the money cause he doesn't trust me, a stranger on the internet. I checked his account and it's in may 2024 with about 200 posts. So doesn't give me a red flag. I'm a member since 2019 with over 600 posts. But he doesn't trust me? Like really. So he won't send the money for the gun. Sounds like he was asking for me to send him the gun and then he will send the money? Lol. He didn't actually say that but seem like it. So I told him what state I live in and said replied by saying he live in a different state. So can't do locally and he won't send money so I ended conversation with him. Hell I ain't spending a gun I bought for 2k plus to someone who didn't pay.

I get all that which is why I said If it's gonna become too much of a hassle then you just don't engage. When I mentioned the trust issue I wasn't really referring to you.

Well im more of a buyer then a seller... till i joined AGN i sold my used items to friends or family. i have yet to sell something on agn but i imagine just like any other online purchase - Facebook market place, craigslist- exc you have to make the people feel comfortable .
But if they feel somethings isnt right and they decide not to purchase ,that is at there discretion. i dont try to change no ones mind.

On one hand, I'm not...an overly trusting person.

BUT, on the other hand, if you want something that is for sale...you have to put yourself out there and "man-up" and send the money.
I'm not part of PayPal, so I really...have to just grit my teeth and send the check (IF the seller will accept a check).

Only one time since eBay opened, have a gotten the proverbial...shaft. And it was a small shaft. I received the item (four car wheels), but they were not...the size as indicated in the add.

Mike

P.S. - I should have added -

IF...either person doesn't get a good feeling after either or both, personal e-mails (from the site, or to the others computer), or phone calls...call the transaction off, simple !

I've called off cylinder head work, when I didn't get a good feeling of what was expected of me and my work.
Like - Customer - "Am I gonna gain 150hp ?" Me - No you are not. Customer "why not ?". Me - "It's just not possible". Customer - "why can't you, so and so did on "X" heads". Me, sorry, I can't help you with your needs, good by".

I've sold many guns on here and if someone is like that your better off not dealing with them. If it starts off with a negative attitude no saying it will get better. I had 1 guy who was hesitant on a gun years ago, ended up buying it and then he took it apart, caused a leak and then blamed me for selling him a leaking gun, then apparently the reg stopped working good after that. He was going to post how I was deceitful and sold him a bad gun so I paid for oring kit and reg and said never again will I deal with someone like that. That was one of the first guns i sold and didnt want my name to be tarnished. But I sold many more since and never had a problem. Nice thing is you get to choose who to sell to. Like a restaurant or store we have the right to refuse service to anyone.

I’m starting to a pattern here with the OP and the classifieds. Maybe it’s not good fit for you.

Yep. That is one thing I am worried about. Selling a 2k gun and then they claimed its bad or leaking when they tried to mess with it. Then blame you/seller. The other thing I would be worried about as a seller is they take it to their credit card company and do a charge back.

Not sure what my other thread have to deal with this one. I mention in this thread I will pay for fees and shipping? Am I missing something? 🤔

The door swings both ways .
Say I buy a 2k gun on here. The seller says everything is great. When I get it. It’s got issues. Paying any other way than Goods and Services leaves me the buyer with Zero protection. I also have no problem adding the 3% fee that is Legally the sellers cost of doing business. Not the buyer.
