Just testing my new slug liner in the field. The 1:16 .25 600 that UA said the ".25 superior heavy' has been updated to ... Actually works great. 28-34 slug hp, zan, and griffins shooting pellet sized groups for me. I've settled on 30gr Zan's, until I try some javelins but unless they group like 25.4 JSB out of a superior STX 1:24 sticking with the zans.. however. I just thwacked me a giant healthy looking grey through the noggin, and a sunnabitch coopers hawk stole him ..... Wtf? Anyone else have this happen before? Of course I've seen them take sparrows and other kills while pesting before retrieval but after sitting a while . This bastard took off before he landed. I'm willing to bet with the speed he yoinked mr.grey.

Anyway. I'm just blowing some steam. Crying like a unstable zoomer forced to manually calculate change at the register..

One of the properties where I shoot ground squirrels has several hawks that have learned to sit nearby and watch for squirrels getting shot. Those hawks fly in very quickly and snatch the dead squirrels. Sometimes they even squabble of who gets the meal.

I've got a coyote that has learned sometimes pest chippies and sparrows magically appear and he and sometimes opossums get a free delicious meal. Little does he know as soon as I learn his habits, the main course is coming with a very fast lead dessert

I had a red in scope and was milliseconds from pulling and I saw the hawk smash down on him in my scope. The Enemy of my enemy ,is my friend. He won that day. I commend him and walked away happy.

Whining aside the new FX Slug liner for .25 is pretty damned effective. I just shot it at my pellet tune. Turned up and down the PW for increase and decreases in velo. Was once told by a much better and more experienced air gunner, " if your barrel and gun like a projectile when they're not tuned for it, all the better. Shoot em wherever you're set and if they hold tight at sub optimal settings, you've got a winner, if they don't, write them off".. he was right.

There’s a big female sparrowhawk on one of my permissions I’ve named Dash, as she’s often dashing off with a squirrel in her talons. She’s a strong one—I've seen her lift woodpigeons and even rabbit kits, something a male sparrowhawk couldn’t manage. I’ve grown quite fond of her.
I’ve also got a family of buzzards that follow me. They don’t take shot quarry but know they’ll get a snack before I leave. I’ve mixed feelings, though—I don’t want them relying on me, especially with shotgunners targeting raptors lately. I'd rather they see humans as a threat.

Those Zans seem to be a beautiful marriage.

Man, I didn't know whether to put a "haha" reaction to your post, or a "sad face"... Because it's a tragi-comedy regarding the gen Z. Most, if not all you've said is true and the sad part is that it's not just the US, it's the whole western world youth that's like that. In my country we even got a new subculture, the Gassers and if any, they're probably going to be responsible for an air rifles ban in my country. A month ago, some idiot going to !note! elementary school, posted an image of him holding up an older HW, with a note/tag that read something along the lines of: "My classmate is cooked!", or maybe it was: she's going down something... And of course the media reacted and some folks in the news forums outright demanded a ban on air rifles, can you imagine?

A dead raptor costs nothing, a dead pheasant’s worth 40 quid. Game bird shooting is very popular here and many farmers lease their land for it. Like most evils, it’s all about profit. Breaks my heart.
