N/A I forgot how deadly the Walther LGU could be

I recently picked up a few new Vector scopes at a great deal and wasn't sure what to do with them. Then I remembered my poor, neglected LGU that hadn't been shot in at least 6 months. Of all the unscoped guns I have, that one certainly deserved one. I mounted a Vector Marksman 4.5-18x50 to her and took her for a spin at 32yds.

I took 3 shots to get her close to zero and then went for groups. My first group was a bit disheartening at 1.8 MOA. Not quite what I expected from a gun that I routinely say is better than the TX and 97K when people ask. I shifted my grip, moved my thumb to an upward position, and pulled it a hair tighter to my shoulder. That seemed to help. Group 2 was under MOA. Keeping up with that grip, group 3 was under half MOA! We're cooking with fire now! Group 4 was another half MOA group up until the last shot (go figure). Not sure what happened there but I'm sure I pulled it. Short memory! I decided to end on a high note with group 5 at .6 MOA. 5 total groups averaging under MOA including a nearly 2 MOA warmup? I'll take it 😄

All in, I think I made the right choice giving her a scope but now I'm pretty confident she deserves a nicer one down the line.

Ok so another 3 groups before it gets dark here. There's an asterisk on one though. I'm really not sure what happened here. I gave my scope 3 clicks to the left based on my previous group shot a couple of hours ago. First two shots landed about where I expected them to. Out of nowhere, the next shot was a half inch high. I figured "oh well fliers happen". Took two more shots and they landed on top of the 3rd. Okey dokey then.... I moved on to the next group and all 5 shots were tight and EXACTLY where the previoys group ended. I said screw it and went back to the previous group and tossed 2 more pellets into the 3 shot mix. I'm counting that as my group dang it! I'm going to assume the erector didnt settle in after the adjustment. I can't be mad because the thing cost me $110 and has been great so far. Time will tell if its springer worthy or not.

So I am now 9 groups into this gun after it had been sitting for over half a year. Average group size at 32yds over all 9 is 0.935 MOA. Tossing the first group in fairness to it being a warmup and relearning the gun, the gun averaged 0.818 MOA over 8 groups.

Back again. Couldn't leave it like that. I went back and shot two more groups bringing it to 11 total. Tossing the warmup, 10 groups with an average group size of 0.856 MOA. I'm pretty sure this is the only piston gun that I can confidently call a sub MOA springer and not feel like I'm stretching the term a little. The scary thing is that aside from the Rowan trigger, the internals are bone stock. Walther, if you read this, bring them back please 🙏
