Taipan I got a new Pelican rifle case!

I just got a new Pelican iM3100 case for my gun! šŸ„³ I also had to get a shorter suppressor to give more clearance. My gun originally had a DonnyFL Koi (second picture) and it had less than an inch clearance inside this case. It was enough clearance but I just feel more comfortable with a bit more. The Ryu is 2 inches shorter than the Koi. I really liked the way the gun looked with the Koi, but now seeing it with the Ryu on it, I feel that the shorter length suppressor looks proportioned with the rifle aesthetically.

I've been using the Plano 52" ~$45 case for a few years now. I've always wanted to get a nicer Pelican case that is shorter because the 52" length of the Plano is quite cumbersome especially when loading inside the car. What really pushed me over the edge this time though to just buy the case is when I got the Accu-Tac bipod a few months ago. This is a backyard varmint rifle and I just want to be able to pull the rifle out of its case and shoot without having to attach anything. These thicker Pelican case fits the rifle with the bipod attached.

I'll tell you though that the foam inside is a huge pain in the ass to cut. Initially, I was planning to really OCD on it and make it as clean as I could but I soon found out just how difficult it is to cut cleanly. It's ok though, at least it's still functional. šŸ˜…

Very nice case
i really like the latches ,,,very simple to use.
The Pelican cases are not as heavy as a case by Apache from Harbor freight ..those are 26lbs empty
the foam can be a PIA to cut, but it is 100 times better than the ā€œpluck n pullā€ foam you get from some companies
a long sharpened fillet knife is what I used to cut the foam Thinner blades work better
the cost is a bit high on the Pelicans, but does reflect the quality of construction and materials.
should last you a lifetime, which I can not say about Plano. The hinges on my last Plano fell apart.
a Plano is a good case, but not on the same level as a Pelican
Nice Purchase

what gun is this ? looks so nice , functional .

Great case! If you want to spend some more money, you can get custom inserts (https://www.gunfoam.com/) or some foam from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Kaizen+foam).
Yes, I've seen the GunFoam ones and ultimately I want to go with one of those since I really have no plans of ever selling this gun. However, I need to make sure of the accessories that I want to always be in the case with the gun and that I'm not going to add or change anything anymore.

Pelican makes great cases! And stands behind them no questions asked.
I bought a used Pelican case and rack to put on my motorcycle. About a year later one of the latches snapped. I called Pelican about it expecting some small fee, the rep took my name and address and said,"You're all set, have a nice day!" And hung up. 3 days later my latches arrived.
Made me a Pelican fan for life.

And nice bike!

I have to take the Mod off of my Jefferson State, only way it comes close to fitting in my case, my Maverick VP is a snug fit, but....I try to not drop it off of tall buildings. I will not remove the Mod, I have a delicate balance on the rifle....kidding....sort of.
You could always do like someone in the classifieds didā€¦..cut a hole/ notch out of your hardcase so the gun with mod will fit šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚. I forget what kind of gun it was but just when I thought I had seen everything and really hadnā€™t lost all faith in mankind something so dumb comes along to throw that all off the rails.

Edit ā€”ā€”errr I just remembered I shot out of my basement window except I forgot to open it back up first. Eh guess I have no room to talk. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ I am a dumbarse and proof people are dumb

Everyone makes mistakes, my first one this morning was getting up day went down hill from there. I'm thinking about getting some of those precuts, they look nice, not cheap but nice and maybe they'll be a bit denser than the usual stuff.

I hear you. Sounds like my weekend. In my post I wasnā€™t referring to cut out foam. The person cut a slot in the actual hardcase so the mod could stick out the end of the case. I guess the difference is my thing was accidental stupidity and that is intentional. Lol.
