I have a HW97 on the way. Scope and mount recommendations

Diana bullseye mount and any clear scope even not Springer rated should be fine.

READ the optics section and make your choice. If clarity and best bang for your buck without getting ripped off is most important to you then read MY posts.

If YouTube and brand name hype floats your boat and you don't care if you throw away your hard earned money then buy any scope you believe the YouTubers say are good.

Main thing you get a no BS Lifetime Warranty even if you aren't the original owner. That alone makes me not want to buy certain designed or invented in the UK brand scopes among many other BS brands who do BS their warranty without original receipt due to greed.

Read the optics section see what are the favorite scopes.

Are you wanting expensive (IMHO overpriced for what you get) name brand or clearer optics at max power for cheaper? (Some may consider dirt cheap) Both options got LIFETIME warranty expensive overpriced and dirt cheap.

READ the optics section. Make your choice.

Diana bullseye 1 yeat warranty vs Diana Lockdown cheaper mount lifetime warranty. Umarexusa cheapest with NRA2020 20% discount code..

I have been using Leapers mounts for years with zero issue and even use them on rifles I use in field target competitions. They come in one or 2 piece mounts, no a one piece mount is not necessary but they're typically more secure due to more surface area to grip the scope rail/grooves. As long as there is a recoil pin the mount should not move on a 97. I have BKL and Sportsmatch mounts too but I can't say one works better than the next to be honest. The Hawke Airmax has a reticle that I really like and can be had in both front focus and side focus and in numerous magnifications. Many like the Vantage line of Hawke scopes but those are only rated to 12fpe on piston guns and no mount will be OK to stop from voiding your warranty on this model and your 97 may be a bit higher than 12fpe. Typically anything over 16x will begin to block the loading port unless it's a compact so I use 4-12 for plinking and 16x for field target as that's the highest permitted magnification in the hunter piston class. There are several Discovery scopes that get good reviews but some of the reticles are a bit small and busy for my eyes.

My vortex Diamondbacks have held up well. One I caused failure due to over tightening the rings, and it still held up over 6,000 rounds plus the VIP warranty can't be beat.

UTG scope is serving me very well, as do my Leupold. My sig whiskey3 was a good deal when I got it.

Mounts...I've used tons and even the cheapest have served me well. I think I really like the BKL I just put on my Diana 34 clone...self centering and offset.
