You guys.... seriously

I just got the best thing ever, well, at least for the price. I had the chance to get my hands on one of these XInfrared T2 Pro thermal units that just mounts on your cell phone and it honestly blows my ATN Thor 4 thermal scope out of the water completely! This is gonna be the ticket for finding coyotes this winter!

Here are some links that they've given me a $50 off clickable coupon for you guys, so don't forget to click that if you order:
XInfrared T2 Pro, Android (clickable coupon for you guys!): https://amzn.to/49ynxA7
XInfrared T2 Pro, Apple (clickable coupon for you guys!): https://amzn.to/3MHRbt1

And here is my video where I show you all about this thing, including comparison footage VS the ATN Thor 4 AND some footage looking through my $4000 PVS-14 NV Monocular:

@AirShootist “Best thing ever” huh? These have been around for a while and I haven’t seen one hunter excited after using one for hunting. Let’s see some of your footage once you get in the field with it and take something other than a rat or baited animal. Do you benefit from promoting this product for the manufacturer or a middle man?

There useful for spotting, not so much using it as a scope device. I could see using it to find or see how many animals there are then switching to a scope. Scope wise unless everything is at a fixed distance your kinda boned.

The only thing I benefit from is if you guys use my amazon links. Am I not allowed to be excited about a cool piece of tech? Good grief.

100% agree. I will be using it as a spotter in conjunction with my ATN thermal scope. This thing, even though less resolution, gives a higher quality image than the ATN scope. I kinda wish I had gotten a better thermal scope like a Pulsar rather than investing in the ATN, but it definitely still has allowed me to get a bunch of predator-vision kills and fill my freezer with rabbits last year.

@AirShootist I’m not saying that you can’t be excited about something. If someone reads the titles of your reviews, it would seem that most everything excites you.

Here’s some feedback. Considering the fact that you spent the greater majority of your review looking at people and cars while using the unit, it comes across as a *****. What airgunner buys a thermal unit to view large objects like cars and people? The possum was decent. Several airgunners I know want to know if something is there. Ther want to be able to identify it and they want to know how far away it is. So if there at a bait station pesting, then great the distance factor has been eliminated. But a airgunner who is doing pesting work should want to know if these things can see rats, squirrels, raccoons, etc.

This unit just doesn’t seem practical
for my type of application. It may be more useful when tracking an animal that was shot, ran off and crashes or to lay down and die somewhere. It would have been beneficial to go over the instructions and to provide more info about the specs. How is this unit being marketed I also noticed that you didn’t mention how it affects the phone’s battery life. How long can it be used connected to your phone battery? You didn’t tell people what type of old android phone you used. Can you record what you’re seeing onto your phone? Does it take photos? What’s the image quality of either or like? Where are you going to stow this unit while you handle your gun? Think of a person pesting or hunting. Where are they going to put that large unit in a split second after spotting an animals where it is easily accessible in the event that they can’t locate the animal through their rifle scope?

You may be genuinely excited, but to me your review is lacking and your presentation of this item comes across like a *****. After reading more of your review titles, it’s as if you make every other piece of equipment that you post about seem like it’s the next best thing to a moderator or an affordable portable HPA compressor to an airgunner.

I'm a hobbyist, man, cool stuff definitely excites me and I tend to share it with y'all to show you my thoughts on the item, its features, etc. If I get sent something or buy something that sucks, I simply don't do a review on it anymore. Not worth the effort just to be negative for products that suck.

Now, what you don't see on this review is the 4 separate trips I took out to the field for about an hour each looking for critters to film with no luck. This is why I had to substitute a walk in the park, looking at vehicles, etc. Does this not show the capabilities of the device? Is certainly does, and I put a great deal of effort into at least trying to capture critters where I could not due to what I'll call bad luck. What you also don't see here is the vendor pressing me to hurry up and release a video when I've had the demo unit for like a month but have been busy working on other stuff, having a full time senior management job, a family, etc.. It ain't all peaches'n'cream when trying to create content for folks. There is a lot of effort and time pressure - I do the best I can.

Still, I appreciate your feedback, in any case, even if your presentation here is kinda crude. Some of your questions above were answered in the video such as "can it take photos" - yes it can. And "can you record what you're seeing onto your phone" ...well.... How do you think I recorded the video for the review? Lol. I can tell you probably didn't even watch the whole thing but still decided to stop by this thread and chide me, which is fine I guess, it is the internet after all. 🤷‍♂️

I'll try to get you dudes some more content with this thing as I use it for a companion device to my ATN Thor 4 equipped Panthera Hunter Compact .30 when I do some coyote hunting. I intend to use it for spotting with much less eye strain than the ATN scope. When I spot a coyote I can simply tap the screen shutoff button, put it down, and then raise my rifle for the kill... 😈

So, you use this to spot a varmint coming into a call, then use the thermal scope on your rifle or even a red/green light and a high quality scope? I would like to hear your report after using it in a real hunting situation.

I have one of these as well, the T2 Search model. I use it for spotting, and then have a Pard NV clipon to do the business. I looked at possible NV / thermal scopes (ATN, Pulsar), but those price points are prohibitive and lose functionality in the day. I'm not a serious pester though, just back yard maintenance. This allows me to keep my normal scope on the gun, and the Pard takes 2 seconds to throw on the adapter when I need it. I think it has value in the right use case.

To a follow up question about how to stow it during use... there is a picatinny mounted housing available for these to which you can also attach the phone mount. So for something like night pesting or coyotes, I would install it in the housing, attach to a pic rail on the gun, and then have my main scope + Pard. You can walk and stalk or stick it all on a tripod. I haven't gone long hours with it, but I'd guess you could do 4 to 6 hours on the phone depending on normal screen-on battery life. I don't think the unit itself is as big a power draw as the phone's screen.

@AirShootist I honestly didn’t know how you recorded. Either I missed the explanation of that part or it wasn’t included in the review. There are some units I’ve seen that require additional accessories to record. An older Burris thermal unit is the first that come to mind that was that way. Considering all that you stated, the bit about you being an hobbyist and the vendor pressuring you is understandable. I would think that when viewing animals, you’d know where to go where go to capture footage of some birds or squirrels. People see birds pretty much on a daily basis. A bird in a tree is a good example of demonstrating the utility of this sort of unit. They’re small and likely on a branch where a some leaves remain to show how a small animal may be seen. I guess you lucked up on that possum. My point about the cars and people was that most of us aren’t buying these units to look at things we can see with the naked eye. So if it’s something used to view inconspicuous animals, is it too much to ask for a demonstration of the unit viewing inconspicuous animals?

Hopefully some of my critique is helpful. You at least seemed cool enough to present it to. If I meant to be scathing, I don’t think you’d have any doubt that I was being that way. If I came across as harsh and there is no truth to what I stated, try not to take personally. I communicated my impression. I don’t think these units are too useful for hunters, so I’m kinda curious about the practicality of these units as others see them. Ability to use them in the daytime was a decent point.

I can recall a manufacturer coming to the forums when these were relatively new. Their presentation sucked considering how they tried to market the unit. I guess they went the next best route by encouraging reviewers to promote their product. Some other member posted photos and their experiences with the unit. That’s also helpful. As a hobbyist your time is limited. I get it. Thanks for sharing what you had time to discover.

@zer0dev For me I have little use for something that lights up my face and part of my torso for night hunting. Been there done that with coyotes. I think that some animals (like raccoon) can easily locate me via reflected light. I’m not sure how that works with beavers, but as tough as they are to see sometimes, I did my best not to risk giving my location away by using uncovered illuminated displays. Now for ratting or pest shooting starlings, this unit looks like it could work if shooting from a blind or within a structure where some sort of light is already present. The strain on the phone battery is what I was curious about. Will it hold up for intermittent use for 2-3 hours? It would probably be helpful to keep a battery pack and charging cord handy in case the phone battery runs down.

Yeah I totally lucked up on that possum, 100%! I hopped outta the truck and was like WHAT IF there's something back there and sure enough there was!

Your feedback is appreciated, homie. Sometimes reading words on the internet doesn't truly capture a person's intent and I realize by posting content publicly I must also openly accept criticism. Again, it's the internet, after all! Honestly any feedback, good or bad, helps in making better content for you guys.

@AirShootist I assume that an app is needed to use in conjunction with this unit? Do you know if it is difficult to obtain? Does it need to be downloaded from a site or is it something available in the Google Play store? Are Apple devices also supported via the app?
Yep app is needed, I show it on the video. It's actually pretty good looking and intuitive. I use an old Android S10 and got it on the Google play store for free. Apple version is also available.
