I just scored at 4500PSI 45 min air tank, now what?

I am kind of new to air gunning. I have a Benjamin Marauder .25 that I have been shooting for about the past year and I have been using a hill pump so I am not that familiar with using a tank. I just purchased a 4500 psi 45min carbon air tank that the Hydro does not run out until 2022.

I am on the list for an FX Crown .30 that should be here by March. I would like to set this tank up for this gun. Any advice on where I should start? (Fittings Gauges etc) How many fills do you think I could get on the FX per tank? Thanks for the help!

Do you have a way to fill the tank? Or a place that will fill it for you? Did it come with a hose? What about valve to open close?

I am not sure. My brother got the tank for me, and I pick it up on Friday . It is a Fireman type tank. I called a local dive shop and they said as long as the Hydro was ok that they would fill it for me.

​I've been using this one for over six months now without issue. One thing I've always wondered about the "USA" units is "where do they get the parts to put their rigs together?" It wouldn't surprise me if they got them from China. Anyway, this rig is pretty much heavy duty, and I haven't had any issue with it.

A Fireman tank is an " scba " tank, easy to research.
Does it look at bit like this?

If so many of the sponsoring dealers carry what you need.
You could also go CHEAP and chance an unknown chinese ( other ) adaptor but do keep in mind yoand or loved on es can die if something lets go.
I went with the lowest cost fill unit I could get from a well know U.S. dealer.

You will need an adapter that connects to the tank valve and has gauge and hose and bleed valve.

It's called SCBA fill station adapter.

Did the Scuba place say they will fill it to 4500psi? Some will only fill you to 3000psi. Ask them. If you get the right equipment, you can fill your tank yourself. Just discussing the Shoebox F10 on sale right now for $500? I guarantee you will go through that tank fill faster than you can imagine, at least at first.

No, just one fill station adapter, it looks like spysir posted in the picture.
About 11 fills on FX crown.

I am thinking it is a 66 cu. ft tank and you fill to 250 bar and shoot to 150 bar you should get 8 fills and 320 shots if your getting 40 shots per fill.

I read a thread where a guy was using a 6000 psi nitrogen tank to re-fill his carbon tank. How does that work? Is nitrogen safe for PCP's. I have access to a welding supply company and could get a nitrogen bottle pretty easy. Seems to me that would be kind of a hassle free way to fill the guns if it didn't damage the gun and was safe. Any thoughts on this?

I know a lot of folk that do it that way. Just need the right adapters etc. Also must realize that you must be really careful, or have a restrictor. 6000psi is a lot of pressure.

The regular air that we breathe is 80% nitrogen, so by going 100% nitrogen you are safe, and it also helps cut down on any moisture that could creep into your gun via compressor type fills. Lots of folks go this route.

And tell him you need a SCBA hose assy for your tank. Last one I bought was $149 + $14.50 shipping.
The Nitrogen Hose Assy's are $189 + $14.50 shipping

Now if you want to go regulated fill assy's that a whole new ball game and way more money. Best to talk to Joe about it.

Most welding supply & gas companies will lease you the 6000 psi 500 cu ft nitrogen bottle on a yearly or monthly fee. You get the first one delivered full and just call them when it runs low and they will change it out for a fresh tank. Costs me about $164 for a fresh bottle change out. Lasts me about 8 months and I target shoot and plink a whole lot during those 8 months. I just take my gauges off the old tank and put them on the new tank when it's delivered. It's worth it to me to not have to drive somewhere for air, and chance only getting a 4000 psi fill or less for my trouble and time.

Jimmy, that set up seems to make the most since to me. All the running around trying to get a tank filled seems like a hassle. In my particular case I am only going to get about 8 fills or so on my carbon tank, and with a .30 I am only going to get around 40 shots per fill so having a set up like yours seems the most logical.
