My 97K was getting progressively harder to latch. At the same time it was not consistantly engaging the saftey. I sent it back under warentee, but was curious as to what may have failed.

Could have been a bent shoe, bent cocking arm. Nothing else comes to mind at the moment.

When mine failed in my R9 it was the old style and it broke and got wedged in the cylinder and spring,thus the rifle would cock,but would not return and was stuck in a cock position, The newer cocking shoe is more robust.

I was not aware that the "new style" shoe was a direct replacement. I took " new style " to mean that is was specific to newer production rifles. I installed the original design. Sounds like I may have to do it again one day.

Beautiful. That's an early model 85. I'm sure you know or it's been noted already. It's the same as an R10. It's an unique rifle. The new 85s are just a long barreled 95s. Still great rifles.
