I love my new tripod and ball head!

FX Crown MK1 in Saber Tactical chassis fits nicely in IR N44 ball head on a SLIK AMT tripod. Very smooth and easy adjustments. Highly recommend!

Healthservices,

Super easy to adjust and lock in place. Arca swiss on top fits on the bottom of chassis. One small knob locks that in place. One big knob loosens/tightens the ball head(you can move it into almost any position with just that). A smaller knob allows just lateral swiveling. Legs on the tripod are locked in place by levers(not screw knobs).

Very nice looking set up. I’m sure it’s super stable and looks really sweet too. You gotta love black on black on black with a little more black! 😆

My son Alex absolutely loves shooting off a tripod. Having a tripod in the field really is so handy. I used to do it during PRS matches a lot but haven’t much lately. Because Alex is so into it, I’ve been doing it more and more lately with him. I’m showing him how to use supports, straps and shooting bags. He’s getting really good and learning something new keeps him excited about shooting with dad!

I actually made a post about a week ago trying to find out how to contact Dark Matter Gear. He finally got back in touch with me and currently sells a great tripod/ballhead combo and also a sweet gimbal head, which is why I was trying to contact him. In the next couple of months he is going to have a new website and a bunch of new products for those who like to use a tripod. If you’re into it, check out his site, he is in tune with what we air gunners need and want and his products are awesome.

Great piece of kit you’ve got there. I really like it. I showed my son Alex too. He said, “that’s lit dad. Tell him his tripod is sick”. 😂 Oh, to be a teenager again.

Have a good one. Stoti

P.S. Hey Hynzie. How are you bud? Haven’t seen you posting much until lately. I hope you and the family are all doing well and you had a great holiday season. Happy 2021. Stoti

😂🤣😆😂🤣😆 Good to know that you’re “down” with the kids!

Cracked me up...S’up.

That looks like a pretty good deal to me. Some of the tripods and ballheads are way, way expensive these days. I know the ones like RRS are great quality but at some point, the gains in performance don’t justify the price. I’d rather spend on air guns and optics I guess.

We use a Sirui tripod and ball head and another cheaper tripod, ball head combo but there are lots of good ones available. Really good ones for a very fair price too.

I was looking at Dark Matter Gear for their new carbon fiber gimball head but they also have a 10 layer carbon tripod (40mm) that is supposedly super strong, is capable of huge loads and is durable. It comes with a great ball head too, The price of the complete combo is what caught my eye. I think I’m going to wait until their new website is up with all of their products before I buy another tripod.

Enjoy your new bipod.

How portable is it? Easy to carry? Quick detachable? Shooting at the daries I walk around a lot. I need a quick set up for most of my shots. Looks very sturdy. I try to set up so my right elbow can rest or touch some kind of solid object like a fence rail or hay bale.. I'm tight handed. This makes for a very stable platform. Thanks, Scott

Ghostranger169, Nice setup and very portable too! I too just purchased a tabletop setup last week and am very impressed with the new stability with my MK3 and Maverick.

That’s a great little tripod, they’re awesome from the bench or even prone. Do you use a rear bag with it too? Talk about rock solid!

Scott,

I just took it out this morning and it is easy to carry around. Easy on/off of the rifle. Easy in and out of the truck. No problems. A little top heavy. Light weight, but not at at flimsy. Easy to adjust the legs because of lever locks, instead of twist locks. Really stable and easy to get level. on uneven ground. I like to set the tripod legs a little low, and use the center tower to move it up or down for each location I set up in. Very quick to get it the exact right height and lock it down. Really nothing that I don't love about it.

I do use a rear bag and you are correct, solid. The setup exceeds my potential.

I had the IR 52mm ball head and felt I needed a little more fluid movement so I sent it back and got the Leofoto 55mm. Much better choice for me.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will need the adapter B has ordered. My application has the picitany rail.

Happy Shooting!

Excellent choice. Works perfectly on the Maverick. The WC, not so good. The FX picatinny rail only allows 2 of the 3 support allens to be used and even then the machining of the slots is off enough that the threads gouge up the picatinny a bit. I ordered a shorter 2 slot picatinny/arca from Optics Planet for the WC.
