I started something new...

The long barrel is the Original ST barrel that came with the gun.
The middle barrel is a ST barrel blank that I had machined to fit the Royale.
The shorty is the cutoff piece from the blank that was also the test piece cut before the piece with the muzzle was cut. The shorty is all smooth bore. Probably not much use to me but cool to have just in case.

The purpose is to make a shorter OAL gun, something more personal and possibly more user friendly/enjoyable to operate.

Smooth bore can be used with those little airgun darts. Get a dartboard and have a blast indoors

I still need to finish the barrel for protection/looks but the Royale is up and running! High power accuracy is great at 30 yards with the 16 and 18 grain JSBs. The medium and low power accuracy isn't there. I'll start into figuring out why soon.

As hoped (could it be mental) the overall feel and function is improved.

I added the Impact side lever a while back and that was well worth the effort.
The adjustable cheek is a must. So happy that I went through with it.
The shorter barrel in s nice for handling also and I prefer the look. I'm pleased with the high power setting accuracy but not so much with medium and low. Once I get this ironed out I will say that this project has been a success. The journey continues....

Did you happen to get any before/after numbers with the chrony? Curious as to how much slower the shorter barrel was.
I did not. I didn't want to get that deep into the gun. I was hoping that the barrel was going to be a bolt on mod. I'll possibly attempt to sort it out when my time and better weather permits this spring/summer. With work, family and holidays I was fortunate to get what little time I had to do these mods anyway. I'll be honest, I prefer to pull the trigger vs. tuning a gun. 🙄😆😎
