I think I have a cool idea for FT wind indicator attachment

I'm prepping a .177 regal for HFT.

Until I can machine up a more permanent solution Im looking for a good way to mount a feather string to the barrel as a wind indicator.

I want something that's foldable so I dont rip it off and ideally with a removable string so I don't have to wrap it around the barrel when not in use.

I cam up with this. Just a few zip ties and the one that sticks out pivots on a small segment off fiberglass rod.

To attach the string, I used a 3mm x 1mm rare earth magnet so I can pull it off and stick it in an envelope when I'm done.

It's cobbled together but it works perfect.

I figured I'd share the magnet string attachment idea since it works so well.

Just an FYI ....

Have an old R/C toy car, boat or aircraft ?

THAT ANTENNA makes for an AWESOME telescopic mast to attach some string & wind flag. ( attached to BKL level on a fabricated swivel foot )

It places your flag UP AND IN VIEW while being head down in your scope, in close or out further as wanted.

Just sharing options on this subject specific thread !

I make a foot that the antenna can screw into and that attaches sideways onto the BKL bubble level bracket as a snug friction fit under a single screw.

It allows swinging Up/Down pending how far out you extend the flag and how long a string you have hanging from it ?

Sorry to have distracted this thread ... was trying to help and share options.

Reviving an old thread, I wanted to share how I make a wind indicator. Mine is basically the same as the ziptie windicator in the first photo with three changes.
Change 1 - I use two small zipties to attach the rod to the barrel, one above and one below the swing out ziptie.
Change 2 - I use a piece of carbon fiber arrow shaft instead of a fiberglass rod. Looks better and I have plenty of cracked carbon fiber shafts laying around.
Change 3 - I use a lighter and an awl to melt a nice round hole in the end of the swing out ziptie. Then I just thread the string into the hole and tie it on.

Kind of took Motorhead's idea and changed it up a little.
Got a 3 pack of Amazon replacement AM/FM radio antennas.
Shaped the base a little to fit snugly in the scope ring and used a slightly longer screw to attach it.
It swivels 360 degrees and extends or retracts. Seems like it might be a little fragile, so I don't know how long it will last.
Thanks Motorhead!

Not usually one to hijack a thread. But beings this one is so old maybe it’s okay!

I saw you have a Hill moderator for a Prod. I’m a newbie on the forum, but I’m interested!
Hi EQ,
I have sold that Prod moderator.

As a side note though, I've had good luck so far with TKO Moderators for the Crosman 1720T, Crosman 1701P, and the Marauder Pistol.
Great guy, great service, prices and products!
