Well, technically not my first, but the first one I want to get serious about. I’ve been shooting pcp airguns for a bunch of years, and now I have the itch to try my hands on a good springer, I’m thinking an hw97, but I’m up for recommendations.
HW/Weihrauch I think I’ll order my first springer….

The springer that sees the most use in my collection is my .22 HW98. My .177 HW50S is a close second.

Yea, it’s mostly going to be a bench gun. I just want something I can plink with for now, but if I can get good with it, maybe shoot some HFT with it?

I use Athlon scopes ,most all of them focus to 10 yards , i would recommend the 6 x24 power range .

That's a lot of ask. The 97 is good for the bench and FT. I find it tedious to plink with. Way too heavy and awkward to load to be fun. Depending on your FT goals a 98 is a good gun. Easier to load & cock than a 97 for the same power. It's less hold sensitive than other springers with a higher power to weight ratio.
I got a barely used 97 and a new to me 98. Maybe just me much prefer my 98

I have a TX200 and a HW77, I definitely like the HW77 more, I have a feeling a HW97 will be in my future. But then I also have a feeling the a Pro Sport may also be in my future, and a HW50, HW30…….

First Weihrauch? HW30 .177 with a vortek PG4 tune and a couple of sleeves of H&N FTTs. 452 head size is best.

HW97 is a great bench gun. I don’t find it awkward to load, I like being able to load from either side. It is hefty, but that’s probably a benefit on the bench. Little effort to shoot off hand, and I imagine would be a handful to tote around all day.

I have or have owned most of the highly respected springers. If I can only have one it will be a 97. I own three - all super accurate and always dependable.
