N/A I think I've decided on a Scout Epoch....

As any of you that may have been following my previous threads know, I am a total newbie to the PCP world. Ive been researching a LOT of rifles, air supplies. etc and applying the guidance you fine folk have been offering to a clueless newbie. For that guidance I thank everyone who has helped.

Im going to do some more research on it, but I think Ive found what checks all my boxes and then some...the Skout Epoch. I plan to order directly from Skout, and am upgrading to the 580cc bottle, going with standard .22 barrel, and the EVO ARCA rail. Having said all that...the only thing about the rifle i dont like is the fact that its electronic, im old school and electronics just dont appeal to me. I would rather see a model without all the electronic bells and whistles with a reduced price...but i guess it is what it is, maybe i will change my mind on the electronics once its in hand. So, unless i find or read any major negatives on the Skout Epoch in the next day or two, I will take the plunge on one.

So are they as troublesome as the FX Impacts in that aspect? maybe I havent dug deep enough in my research on here yet....
It seems that way to me, I know they are a shooter when they work. I went with a Ghost instead, I didn’t want to have issues like I had with my Maverick. Good luck, don’t rush the decision.

You only hear about Impacts alot because FX sells more than anyone else. I have had both and and take an Impact mk2, m3 or m4 anyday over a Skout. I also would take a Daystate over a Skout as well, they have had their electronic technology longer and are a more solid platform.
Between Daystate and FX, what would you choose.

If you want larger magazines, plenty of power and want to stick with one projectile, FX. If you are switching it up alot with pellets and want the smoothest cocking on the market and best trigger, Daystate. Most people get leaks wanting to change the FX regs aroumd all the time. Delta Wolf will is just more robust and a solid barrel. I do tension every FX barrel and have not had any POI issues.

Not sure what "problems" the responses are referring to. I've had my Epoch for about 2 years, and have not had any problems with it, haven't needed any "warranty" work.
When Skout brings out an upgrade, to date, other than sometimes having to pay for shipping, the modifications have been free. For example, when Skout added the front barrel tensioner/"locking ring," it was provided free of charge.
The electronic trigger is/has been great. No issues, and feels the best of any rifles I've owned. As any electronic device, it require a power source, but the charge lasts a long time, and only time I "worry" about it is if I haven't shot for a month or so...then I just plug it in for a bit before I head to the range. It's not much of an issue. And even though Skout is new to air rifles, the electronic system has been used for many years on their paintball side...they're not newcomers to electronics.
I think you'd enjoy the Epoch.

I'm not sure I would say. These days has had their electronic technology for longer. Given that scout has been doing everything, electronic for at least two decades since they've been doing paintball for that long and have a reputable company. Unless you're saying because this is their first air rifle, then I would definitely agree with your statement.

Yeah, first air rifle and alot of warranty posts on here. I was not impressed with the trigger either. Daystate was much easier to work the on board as well. I regret ever letting that one go, but you of all people, know how it goes. Lmao

At this point I'm feeling kinda overwhelmed now lol. There is an airgun show coming the 14th close to my area I plan on attending, it's West of Indianapolis. I will look around and talk to anyone I can to get more insight.
All I will add is Research then Research some more!

All makes and models have their fan club members......I'm a Brocock fan!

Have you looked guns KNOWN for accuracy, robustness, low to no problems like Taipans or Kalibrgun? I understand how overwhelming the choices can be & I wish you luck. I always hope for "1st timers" to have the most rewarding, least frustrating 1st experience. Imho, TRACK RECORD of a gun's owner satisfaction level should be a priority. Pricewise the ones I mentioned are more affordable than Skout with a much longer track record of being fabulous airguns.

I've looked at both, yes.
I would say Uragan, any of them really would be a phenomenal choice for a first gun. They are easy to take apart, super accurate with slugs and pellets, ZERO poi shift. In fact just last week I had taken my U2 600mm .177 barrel off to check the throat for possibly opening it up more (didn't need to) which requires taking off the scope, the scope rails, cheek rests, unscrewing 8 or 10 hex screws and some minor alignment. When I put it back together I was only off by half an inch at 62yds.

These high end repeaters are weird. I've been trying to steer away from E guns but I keep getting sucked back in, lol.

I had a Daystate Pantera that fit me well, and the trigger was okay, but for whatever reason it'd throw shots once in a while, which made it super tough to win a match with. Sold it.

Had a Redwolf and although there wasn't anything wrong with it I didn't like how the stock fit me. I thought the trigger was okay, however it didn't shoot but mediocre. I bought it to use the JSB/FX/RM 25.4's but the three different brands of them weren't working out and neither did NSA 20.2gr slugs. Sold it too.

I know a few guys that had problems with Deltawolf's when they first came out. After a couple tries the one aquaintance either brought his back or sold it, and the other guy, who is a friend, also being a master tuner and gunsmith, got his working well. I didn't want to end up like the 1st guy nor bother my friend so I didn't get one. I imagine Daystate has the bugs worked out by now but too little too late for me??

After my Gen 1 Impact negative experience(which that same friend fixed), and one other FX rifle that AOA couldn't fix, I decided I wasn't buying FX anymore.

Had a AAA EVOL that I disliked enough for various reasons that I gave it back to the sponsor to fix and I never heard another thing about it, lol.

Had a Uragan 30 cal, a Uragan King, and now have a Vulcan 3, and these were/are pretty good guns. I sold my King and kinda miss it and found out 30 cal isn't what I wanted after all. The V3 25 cal is a great shooting gun.

Then just recently got a Skout EVO in 22 cal which also had problems. However it fits me well, has a very good Etrigger, it shoots slugs great, has really good quality high cap mags, isn't hard to tune so far, and I could go on about it in other positive ways. The jury is still out but it "seems" like a keeper??!!
In spite of the initial problem that Skout took care of, I like it more than those others in most ways. I hope it works out because it's got a lot going for it including the racey appearance.

If the EVO doesn't work out then I'll try the Blackwolf.

There's a Royale 500 (.25) w/laminate stock on classifieds. Very different from the guns you are looking at but one of the finest straight out of the box pellet shooters ever made. We Owners know what a superb platform this is and are reluctant to let them go. Check it out (at least). Mine is the middle one in picture. Target on left is 6 shot group at 75 yards off bipod (one flyer)

I'm npt going to say that all Epoch's are going to shoot like this, but they are certainly capable of it
My Epoch with the .22 LW barrel @100 yards in an indoor range
Shots were alternately fired between the 2 targets, but i stopped on 3 on the left side ..i just chicken out..it looked too good
