I\'ve got $300. what should I buy? (sorry, I\'m a noob)

I'm really just getting started in this hobby. These are the guns I've collected so far :

Gamo Silent Cat .177 (got it for $50)

Gamo Magnum .177 ($100 at pawn shop

Swiss Arms TG-1 .177 ($60 walmart clearance)

Crosman 2240 24" barrel, backpacker brace ($30 pawn shop)

Crosman 2240 pistol ($59 walmart)

Benjamin Prowler .22 ($40 pawn shop)

So, I've got $300. These are the guns I'm interested in (I think)

Gamo Swarm Magnum .22

Hatsan 135 Carnivore .30

But also might get into PCP's such as the Umarex Gauntlet, Beeman QB Chief, Hatsan Flash Carbine in .25

any advice ???

PCP's are great but.... you need air! I recently baught a HW95 luxus from AOA and love it. Just under 400 bucks. Just cock and shoot. It comes with nice open sights and shoots very accurate. mines a .22 and shoots 14.66gr pellets average speed 677fps.

Thats 3 shots into the bottom of that can at 55yrds with a Williams peep sight.

100% agree with the last four posts. There is also the HW50 to consider - it sits between the HW30 and HW95 powerwise. All of these guns will be a big step up in quality. And give serious consideration to the lower-powered guns - The HW30 in particular is a favorite of many airgunners because it's not always about power, but the ability to shoot accurately and enjoyably, the HW30 excels at both - cocking is super easy, the shot cycle is super smooth - just a little "tud" and a pulse- and they are generally very accurate (and easy to shoot accurately).

As functor said, see if you can find any of these guns in the classifieds where you can get them for even less than new. If you're not impressed, you'll probably be able to sell them down the road and incur a minimal loss. But, if you're like most of us, you'll never sell them, you'll just keep buying more....

Also, another very intriguing deal right now is through Cabelas - they're selling the Diana 34 (technically the RWS Pro Model 34 P Air Rifle/Scope Combo) for $149 in .177 with the synthetic stock (and shipping is free!) The TO6 trigger is not as good as the "rekord" trigger the HW's have, but it's still a German-made springer at a made-in-China price. Again, this should be a big step up from any Chinese/Spanish/Turkish built airguns.

It sounds almost too good to be true and I'd love to hear if anyone has snagged one of these - did RWS change something (like start making them in China)? I also see the .22 with a wood stock for $229, which also seems like a really good deal.

If Your looking for a pcp,I would suggest the Umarex Gauntlet. I picked up a refurbished .177 for 199.90 at Field Supply. I already have a Kral Puncher Breaker in .22 and a Benjamin Marauder in .25 or I would have picked the .22. From what I've experienced with the .177 Gauntlet regarding overall performance and how well it responded to a little "TLC" (Not the group.) I will most likely pick up a refurb. in .22 when they become available again.

As far as springers, my suggestion would be an R9/HW95 Lexus in .22 from A.O.A. It will fit well in Your current collection and will last more than one lifetime. It's accurate, beautiful and Well Made. They respond well to a tune, when Your up to it....or just shoot the hell out of it. Check out Steves review on AEAC,He always tells it like it is and does Top Notch reviews.

Lots of choices beyond what I've thrown out there,so take all the time You need.Hope I was at least Somewhat helpful.

Mike.

I did the Cabelas RWS34P for 150 bucks shipped it is by far the best deal on a German made springer .The gun comes with scope and drooper mount and has the To6 trigger I am so impressed with this gun I ordered a second one easy to work on and very accurate even with the 4x scope they come with can hit rams and pigs at 50 yards pretty much every shot they both love H+N FTT 8.64g 4.52 head size again cant say enough good things about these guns
