Daisy I was gifted 2 air pistols, a Beeman 800 and a Daisy 717. I need some help please.

Hello, this is my first post so i hope it's ok to ask some questions.

A very dear friend gifted me 2 air pistols to keep me busy and active during my cancer therapy. It's hard to do a lot of stuff we usually do together.

I dry fired the Daisy 717 a few times and it sounded fine... so i then tested it with a few projectiles.

The 717 shot very weak....and i could hear a little bit of rattling which didn't sound right.

I reviewed a video to learn how to disassemble the pistol but its very dark, tough to see fine details.

What i could find is that the wide bushing had disintegrated, almost to dust.

More worrisome is a little piece of plastic that looks like it broke off the rear sight....there is a tab that makes a right angle heading back up the rear sight base.

I guess i need new rings/bushings and a rear sight...are these available?

Also, where is there someplace to download a manual for the pistol. I found one for the 717 but it doesn't show assembly/disasemby and i can't find any for the Beeman 800.

Appreciate any leads and information as to how best to care for them and anything else i should purchase. I would very much like to use them.

thank you.

thank you
I used to shoot competitively long range rifle and competitive/action pistol sports for quite a few years.
Some rather significant medical challenges have forced me to make significant life changes. That said, such is life.
I miss the shooting sports very much.
I'm hoping to transition to and enjoy air or spring pistols to keep mind and hands active. My dear friend gifted me these pistols recently and i'd like to get them up and running.
I know little of this platform and so hoping to learn from the forum.

Very nice gift…you have 2 fine air pistols. The Beeman 800/Diana 6 is a GISS (recoiless) break barrel. They are great shooters with virtually no recoil. The Daisy is a SSP ( single stroke pneumatic). Also a fine shooter..both are reasonably quiet and should scratch any accuracy itches you may be experiencing. Enjoy! John
PS avoid dry firing…tough on internals

That "wide bushing" you refer to is a foam wiper, used as an oil reservoir to hold a bit of oil to keep the inside of the compression cylinder lightly oiled. Some people have used pieces of felt to make a new ring to fill the groove .I used this kit

on several of mine, The four very white looking rings are teflon washers that fit that groove you refer to and will hold a bit of oil in the spaces in between them, much like the rings in a car engine, and probably will not disentegrate like foam or give off lint that might foul the piston seal.
Rebuilding one is rather simple, just watch what you are doing and maybe take some pictures as you go, especially position of the trigger parts when you are trying to get everything back together.

Parts for the sights are no longer available, I have seen where some folks are 3d printing an adapter to use some kind or pistol sight, like used on some of the Crosman CO2 pistols with adjustable sights.

the good news is the 717 is easy to work on and what you see is the oil wiper that has fallen apart
the rear sight are no longer available i would need a picture to help to advise
the Diana is another story very complicated for most but as with the Daisy i have rebuilt many of them
now i get the idea that these 2 pistol have been sitting a while and that is a problem always
the Beeman could need new seals and that could be hard for you to do and if you can't work on either the cost could be hard on you
pictures please

Agree about not dry firing the Beeman 800/Diana 6, but it will not hurt the Daisy. The Beeman needs a pellet in the barrel to dampen the forward motion of the piston, there is no piston movement when firing the Daisy.

JGairguns.com, have OEM foam oil wiper washers, and various other parts for that gun. I just acquired a D777, and like others said, very easy to work on.
Just Google "Daisy 717 air pistol reseal" you'll see some informative details & videos.
I've resealed many of the giss guns, (your 800). They are a bit complicated.
Reach out if you want more info.

DO NOT DRY FIRE !!! specially the 800

Welcome to the best AGN
where are you ? if close maybe one of us on here can help out ?
Stan in KY.
It will not harm a SSP, which includes the Daisy 717,747,777 series, a CO2 or PCP type gun. The only type that will be harmed by dry firing are the spring air and possibly the gas ram types.

thank you all for the eBay leads on the seals. I live in San Diego.
...curious, is there anything special about the o-rings....is it ok to use some from my harbor freight multipack?

thanks for asking and for the suggestion. I'm not sure if i have the JB Weld but that sure would be easy to source.

I cleaned the parts and at first i tried some cyanoacrylate glue...which didn't work so i then tried E6000 glue....which unfortunately also failed.

I will try to call the Daisy company as well...maybe they have spare ports?
update: just called Daisy and they no longer carry parts for that model.
