Daisy I was gifted 2 air pistols, a Beeman 800 and a Daisy 717. I need some help please.

Hello, this is my first post so i hope it's ok to ask some questions.

A very dear friend gifted me 2 air pistols to keep me busy and active during my cancer therapy. It's hard to do a lot of stuff we usually do together.

I dry fired the Daisy 717 a few times and it sounded fine... so i then tested it with a few projectiles.

The 717 shot very weak....and i could hear a little bit of rattling which didn't sound right.

I reviewed a video to learn how to disassemble the pistol but its very dark, tough to see fine details.

What i could find is that the wide bushing had disintegrated, almost to dust.

More worrisome is a little piece of plastic that looks like it broke off the rear sight....there is a tab that makes a right angle heading back up the rear sight base.

I guess i need new rings/bushings and a rear sight...are these available?

Also, where is there someplace to download a manual for the pistol. I found one for the 717 but it doesn't show assembly/disasemby and i can't find any for the Beeman 800.

Appreciate any leads and information as to how best to care for them and anything else i should purchase. I would very much like to use them.

thank you.

so, if the sight is broken at the bottom just clean up and epoxy together and how the hell that could happen is very interesting
i will tell you reality of the sights
that--had-- parts available to fix the sight but the upper part of the sight can not be taken apart it goes together but doesn't come apart because the washer they use
i have made sights that are made from and Ruger pistol sight and a 1/2 x 5/8 pillar
you will see in the picture that what broke off is a plastic spring component of the base
you see the sight that i made up clam shells hold it in place and sight stuff
i have taken these apart and it is a royal PITA and without the clip being available because you will have to cut it off you are screwed and i bought a box of star washers and never found one JUST RIGHT

if you were not so far away i would say send me the Diana but Florida and Washington are not close

just a note o the Daisy
these are easy to work on pistols till there are not and that may not make any sense
you can take one apart with 4 screws in about 2 minutes
you have 4 Orings, 2-115, 1-012, 1-005 and the stem seal
you have 5 leak points
the main tube from the piston head, from the main tube from the valve end
out the barrel because the valve stem is leaking and now you have a nightmare
the stem at the valve cap and the valve cap itself

all the rear leaks can be found if there with and big bowl of water and holding the tube and valve together and adding pressure
the front tube leak is not easy to test for
now all that might sound like nonsense but it is not
the pistol i used for my test mule making the sights up would not hold air over night
it had new tube seals so another set went in
still no go
valve came apart the 012 was crap and the stem seal was okay but changed to a 006 which should work
now when you take the valve apart you have to deal with that clip which is a PITA more on that
gun still would not hold after replacing the 2 valve seals and would not empty the air in one trigger pull and now i'm getting pi$$ed
ordered 005 stem seals and small collars for the stem but after all that would not hold air over night
took it apart and a 3rd piston head seal was added and even thought the cylinder has Crosman Pellgun oil in it i use some ULTIMOX 226 this time to the piston head Oring
and that was the fix and i got there by testing in that bowl of water
SO WHEN I SAY THESE ARE EASY TILL THEY ARE NOT THAT STORY TELL YOU WHY
now some might not think i know what i am doing but i own 8 daisy pistols
now a picture of the collar works great it was bought on ebay and the ID is 3.03 mm

sorry for the long post
mike

you know it is hard enough to open up a new gun and try to understand how everything works
you know i will tell you something in late 2021 and early 2022 my partner of 40 years had both chemo and radiation treatments they went well for a while but time and treatments took a toll my job was to get her enough protein and well in her case it did not work out

so i wish you all the best and if i can help just message me
mike

thank you to all.
.....i will try to add photos tomorrow.
......I'm not familiar with the process of posting photos but i'll read.
good to know about dry firing.
the ad posted says out of stock but i will send the seller an email....perhaps he will get more in stock?
I was gifted a 717 month or two ago. It came with all the new replacement parts. I am handy and logical so I rebuilt it with the new parts and it leaked. Second time, it leaked again. I put the old original parts in it and that fixed it. It is now a quite accurate shooter.
It feels like a dud when it fires but that's normal.

My old 747 and the recently gifted, beautiful 717.

thank you all for the kind words and all the help. I'm very grateful
You have a couple of nice vintage pistols there. What I think I would recommend is getting a shooter in your hands while you figure those out.
A Bemman P17 is a single stroke pneumatic, that is affordable, accurate, with good sights, and a nice trigger. Then you can get shooting. I recommend .7 grain wadcutters, the H&N Basic work best for the buck.
